Hi all , took the girlfriend to Aberystwyth last weekend we only went for one night so packed light pair of jeans a top undies and pair of converse trainers and the other usual bits and pieces each in separate backpacks. Trouble is I was sat right up to the tank like on a crosser and still my backpack was in the way and I wasn't comfy. Has anyone used a set of soft throw over panniers with the twin high mount arrows (thinking home made heat shield over the cans quick to put on and take off) not going touring or commuting to work just want a simple solution for once in a while trips away with the GF
    Ideas please

Hi Jonesy, have a look at this thread and you'll see a few ideas.
I use Givi panniers which are semi-hard luggage, takes me about 20 minutes to fit or remove the frame which I obviously don't have fitted most of the time, the panniers then just clip in and lock to the frame. Perhaps a bit OTT for what you're looking for, but there are other options on that thread.
However they mostly use the pillion seat, so not suitable in your situation with a pillion. The only other option I've seen is similar to my Givi's but with a more minimal frame and soft luggage by SW-Motec - just follow the link on that thread to the Blaze panniers.

Might also consider the sidecar route?

Could just be the Isle of Man TT influencing my thinking of late... Come to think of it, I should probably not ride for a few days.
