Help! Bike Won't Start

    Hi all,

    I stupidly left my lights on overnight and of course the battery died when I got back, I got a trickle charger and fully charged the battery. However it still would not start, wouldn't even light up the dashboard, I assumed the battery had fully died so I bought a new one, and the same issue!

    I've done some basic voltage tests and there is power, and the main fuses are all good, but still no power to the front of the bike!

    Is there another set of fuses that are hidden or is there anything else that I could check?

    Bike is a 2013 Street Triple R

    If you have a multimeter. What voltage are you getting at the battery terminals

    13 Volts at the battery terminals and at the Solanoid

    Should be OK to initiate the start sequence on an EFI bike.
    As above check the various safety sensors, clutch in, side stand, neutral etc.

    Voltage below 12.8 will cause issues!

    Does the bike have an immobiliser or alarm fitted? If not there is a u shaped bypass loop in the connector under the seat you might check for continuity. I assume the kill switch is not actuated.

    Awesome - thanks but what is an EFI bike? and what do you mean by the start sequence?

    Based on my recent experience I'd suggest checking the main ground to the engine, check there is continuity between the ground battery terminal and an exposed metal surface (bolt head etc) low down on the engine. Mine had full juice in the battery and was making it all the way through the system to the starter but then with a dodgy ground it had nowhere to go.

    FIXED!

    It was a blown fuse by the solonoid - difficult to find! All working now :)
