    Hello everyone,
I'm new to the forum but have been a proud Triumph owner for the past 21 years. I currently own and ride Aprilia,
Ducati and my old faithful Triumph T595 Daytona.
Unfortunately after 21 years of service the Daytona is not starting so I'm here for any help or suggestions.

    Greetings for Houston Texas

Welcome to the family. Nice bikes. Do drop a picture of the bike's. Also let us know a little more about your ailing steed. Like mileage upgrades service history. More about the problems.
    Ride Safe & Enjoy.
    Joe.

Good Morning Everyone and thank you for the warm welcome.

I checked a few threads about the starting problems and they were very helpful! My greatest joy was finding out that the clutch starter pack was still good! If that were the issue the bike would have been laid to rest, sob...

Thank you for the great thread!
Here are some details: 21 year old T595 daytona; 15000 miles. Always serviced best oil plugs filter you name it!
What its been doing is: push starter button and only high pitched sound. It does click when I press the starter but only whine...
removed starter and checked starter clutch, according to Haynes manual. It turn counterclockwise but does not in the other direction thus should be good.

Tested starter on bench and turned right away, ok a few sparks flew from contact point but no issues.
Now i checked fuses and found main 40 amp burned out...
Maybe should have checked fuse first.

My biggest fear was the starter clutch because of the complexity of taking engine out etc... too big of a job and cost factor.
What else would you suggest I check?

Thank you again for all the info and help!

Hi parisv, it sounds to me like it could be the brushes on your starter motor.
If they’re sparking then they could be drawing too much current and burning. This could also be why the fuse has popped.
I’d also check the connections at the starter solenoid. If they’re loose or corroded it’ll increase resistance making the current draw increase.
You can get a repair kit for the starter or just get a replacement or have it repaired if you’re not confident of taking it apart.

Thanks will check connectors and re-test starter with freshly charged battery. To be honest I tested starter with large battery charger on low 12v output that is why i think it threw some sparks.
