Hi all I went out on the bike on Sunday and ended up with dead fingers in the cold which is also due to a heart problem. So I’m going to get some heated grips probably Oxford and a set of hand guards I know triumph do them but their a bit high on the price so what have people fitted. Thanks
@Jako999 The 400 scrambler have in my opinion quite neat hand guards if you find someone breaking one
What bike is it for? I have OEM handgurads on my PStrom 800 and they're excellent at keeping your knuckles out of the breeze. So much so that I've not yet needed my Oxford heated grips (new type with the button in the left grip).
Barkbusters have been around for years and are pretty popular as already mentioned. https://barkbusters.net/what-fits-my/triumph/scrambler-900/ The Storm looks about the same size as my Suzuki OEM jobbies but being single mounting point they may flex in the airflow a smidge. I'd not expect it to be much of an issue though - they'd never sell any or keep going if they were annoying. I had two mounting-point Barkbusters on my (Street) Scrambler 900. Listed on their website so guaranteed to fit. https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/street-scrambler-barkbusters-handguards.21820/ My Himalayan has 30 quid Chinese two mounting-point Barkbusters rip-offs from JRG Racing - "Black 2" option if I remember correctly - on Amazon. Look strong enough to save the levers in the event of a drop on a green lane, and come with plastic sleeves for different diameter handlebars. Universal, so fitment not guaranteed, but I found examples online of them being used on Himalayans. If you only want wind protection, then a single mounting point is fine, but if you want to save the levers on the event that you drop it you really need two point mounting and a metal frame.
If you want hand guards that will actually protect your levers in a tip off as well as keeping the wind off your hands, get Barkbusters with their Storm hand guards. Get the two mounting point ones.
I have the Barkbuster single mount handguards on my Speed Twin 900. They do help a bit with the wind on the hands, but not a real cure for riding in cold weather. They would work better with heated grips. If it is really cold, heated grips alone won't keep your hands warm. Palm's get hot and outside of hand gets cold. Some heated grips are better than others. Some just don't get hot enough. I live in a cold climate and most years we are still riding in October ( this year has been really warm ) and the only thing that really works in the cold is a pair of those 3 finger gloves with a rain cover. (2 fingers in each slot & thumb in its own). I'm not sure the ones I have are even made anymore but I do see some 3 finger gloves on the market.
I actually took the barkbuster's off. I found that they were directing the wind upward at my helmet and causing more wind noise. I knew that was always a possibility when I put them on. Help a bit in one area but cause more problems in another.

I purchased a pair Merlin D30 gloves and find them great as they heat both sides of the hands and have around fours on full power. Not cheap but worth every penny
