Hello does anyone have a 2018 speedmaster or any speedmaster with bar end mirrors, if so where might I get some without buying some cheap knock off. much obliged
I have to say, some cheap knock offs are actually worth a punt. I have a cheap £18 (!!) set on my Ducati which look exactly like the originals and have been great so far over several thousand miles. I gave them a go as I couldn't stomach the huge price for the Ducati branded offering. There seem to be lots of decent looking replacements for the speedmaster mirrors when I did a quick Google as the Triumph branded ones are very costly (and so are some of the alternatives!).
Totally agree, some Triumph accessories are ridiculously expensive. Ok, they may be good quality but I can't help thinking we're being ripped off sometimes.
When I (can be bothered to) complete those surveys that Triumph occasionally send out I ALWAYS moan about the cost of accessories, but strangely it has made no difference.
On my Striple I have these. I didn’t like the mirrors that came with them so used the OE mirrors that were on the bar stalks, both M6 thread. They were under a tenner when I bought them but today they are still under £15.
Something like these can be had for under £40/pr. I have the same on my 900 street twin. Only thing to bear in mind is, the ball for swivelling the mirror on is lubed when manufactured, make sure you clean with thinners, isopropanol, or even petrol, with say a cotton bud before use.
They must've gone up in price slightly, there's a surprise. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/20281168...KC&stype=1&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=MORE
They would still look alright on mine, maybe black instead of red. I am. wondering whether it was designed to be able to have them. The angle of the handlebars. I took the end of with the Alan key but then what do you do? how do you get the inserts out the end of the handlebar? I thought it would be a quick swap but its not proving to be so
You don’t. If your bars are like mine you will have just unscrewed an 8mm Allen bolt to remove the end cap which should reveal a short length of handlebar protruding from the end of the grip. It is on this expose end of the handlebar that the mirrors are clamped. Having done so you can refit the bar end. You may need a longer Allen screw. The bar end inserts that come with the mirrors are not used.
You have taken the cap of by unscrewing an Allen screw. Now please post a photo of the bar end, including the insert.
