Cheapo parts put on for a competitive market had 04 bonnie 6 month down road issues with chrome on wheels also rear suspension when I mentioned it I got told it was a cleaning issue also the parts put on for a competitive market pmsl
My Tiger 800 had no problems 5 years old 25,000 plus and cleaned with Muc Off used all year and de-salted when I got around to it. Do not think my T120 will do the same so it gets sprayed with Scottoiler FS 365. Muc Off can affect ally, roof rails on an Audi and various alloy parts on my cycles would cream up, not much help to you though.
Nothing wrong with off topic....my tatty gt won best classic at a local bike show !! Well it was pissing down
Well they are continuing to say that this is a cleaning issue......... This is their reply to my latest mail > Message Received: Dec 12 2016, 09:45 AM > From: "UK Aftersales Cases" <[email protected]> > To: > Cc: > Subject: RE: Warranty manager > > Dear Mr Williams > > Unfortunately we are unable to supply internal contacts to our UK customers. Ok fine...... I will be in touch with Charles Smart via normal post. I am not happy and feel that I am being fobbed off even more now that we have the winter weather. This is NOT a "cleaning issue", this is an issue with poor quality materials used on an exposed part. The issue arose in the SUMMER after around 300 miles covered, should have been reported to you by the supplying dealer at the first service. The issue has been there almost from the 2nd week of ownership. I am NOT a happy customer after spending almost £10000 on what is supposed to be a quality motorcycle. Terry Williams The saga continues.......
What I did, when having a disagreement over the way my sectional garage had been put together, was set up a web page with pictures of the issues on it and a description of my dealings with the company. I didn't link it to my website or anything else, just sent them a direct link to the page saying that I had a web page set up to illustrate the problem. Oh and there was a visit counter in the corner of the page, which I may have tweaked. They seemed to assume it was generally available. Within 24 hours the regional manager was in my garden looking at the garage and agreeing it need rebuilding and would I please take the web page down. I agreed it would be taken down, but only once they had fixed the garage
Very poor customer service regarding parts of a £10k motor cycle that are obviously made from materials that are not fit for purpose or lacking the protection that would make them fit for purpose. The reason I use that phrase is because although the corrosion will probably not be affecting the performance of the bike it is adversely affecting the cosmetic quality of the bike which is a major factor when purchasing, it certainly affects the second hand value and part exchange value and as such can be classed as not fit for purpose and detrimental to the overall value of he bike. I would pursue this to obtain a satisfactory solution, if you have to name and shame,Triumph only have themselves to blame. Worth bringing up at the planned factory visit when they will most likely be presenting the fantastic levels of quality control that are in place. This is a genuine customer complaint that should investigated to determine the root cause of failure with robust corrective actions put in place.
Just out of interest Just out of interest have you tried cleaning the marks off with warm soapy water and a soft bristled brush? If they do come off a wipe over with a cloth soaked in light oil should protect the surface for the future.
yep done that but surface is now pitted and its back within days, plus I an NOT taking the tank off on a regular basis to clean corrosion off something that should not have corroded within a couple of weeks
Just to add, I was at our local Triumph dealers on Saturday and noticed one of their T120's had corrosion on the throttle bodies.
My corrosion was evident after riding the bike back from the dealers (60+ miles and in the dry) and then stored in my garage for a few weeks. R
Unfortunately no hp on it was a savings job. And yes, my local dealers demonstrator has the same corrosion.........
Below is an email sent to the head of warranty at Triumph UK I am a new customer to Triumph, having purchased a T120 Black in June of this year. I have an issue that has been reported to your warranty department on several occasions. The problem is corrosion on the throttle bodies. I feel that the response from customer service has been poor, and had blamed the issue on cleaning (or lack thereof) The corrosion was first noted a coupe of weeks and around 300 miles into my ownership, and notified to the supplying dealer (Bill Smiths of Chester) I was advised to bring it up at the first service. Please bear in mind that this is summer. I was asked by the person behind the desk there if I used the bike in the rain..... I advised him not to go down that route otherwise I would reject the bike as unfit for purpose. I spent almost £10000 on this motorcycle, not a small sum for me. I look after my bikes well, keep them clean and serviced and have ridden somewhere in the region of 100000+ miles in the last 10 years. My bikes are used at all times of year and in all weathers. I find that the amount of corrosion keeps coming back, and is worse each time. I can assure you it is NOT a cleaning issue. I have mentioned it online, and have found other owners with the same problem both on the 1200cc Thruxton range and the T120. Also I have noticed the problem on several demonstrators in Triumph dealerships on both models, and also on secondhand low mileage examples in other motorcycle dealers..... Now as we are coming into winter proper, with salt on the roads even cleaning immediately when I get home, and (drying as best I can with the wet weather) It is not enough to prevent the issue being back within a few days. The bike is normally kept in a garage about 200 yds from my home and as such if the weather is really wet, I do not put the bike away until I can dry it properly as the garage is not heated, but well ventilated. The registration number is DF16 ZGB, there are photographs on record with your customer service department. I feel that Triumph as a brand is all about quality and style, but this is being let down by apparently inferior quality on some components. I had an independent motorcycle shop examine the corrosion, and when they were told that Triumph customer service had said that it was "a cleaning issue" I was asked that if I wasn't cleaning the bike properly, why were no other components degrading in the same fashion? If you require more photos, I am happy to oblige. I feel that some of the major motorcycling magazines may be interested in this issue, and reserve my right to involve them and trading standards if necessary. Thank you for your time, Regards Terry Williams Your thoughts? Terry
