765 Racetorx Triumph Gear Shift Support

Apologies for jumping on this 2+ year old thread but having just plodded through this 2 hour YouTube video about some of the troubles riders are having with their bikes and the dealers, particularly in OZ I searched for Striple gear selector shaft support and here I am.

I have a 2021 Striple R so it's got the auto blipper and have had no problems with it. But having now seen that there is a potential weakness in the selector shaft causing it to snap I think prevention could be the way to go.

One question for those of you with the 765 lump. A couple of times when I've had to make a rapid stop whilst in a high gear and not had time to knock it down the box. Having come to a standstill with the clutch still disengaged and the high gear still selected I've had to partially engage the clutch to rotate some of the cogs in the box in order to come back down to neutral. Anyone else experienced this?

Hi Baza, sorry for the late reply, I have been away in warmer climes. The gear selector shaft on the STRS is fairly long. I noticed that the shaft flexed a little, and decided it was the reason for some false neutrals and missed gears, however I was a little worried that this could place undue stress on the shaft, resulting in either a bearing failure or worse a snapped shaft, hence my fitting the Racetorx support, which transformed the gear changes to almost perfection, and there is no shaft movement, for the cost I would highly recommend fitting one, ironically 5 years down the line since noticing the flex and fitting the Racetorx, a number of owners are reporting broken shafts.

I fitted a similar Gilles support to the Fireblade 5 years ago and whilst false neutrals were rare beforehand I don’t recall any since.

Many thanks for this information. For the price, £50, it's worth the peace of mind knowing that you have done all you can to prevent that selector shaft from snapping which must be a total nightmare to fix, let alone the cost of having to do so.

All the more reason to look at these selector shaft supports is that only yesterday one of our sons has purchased a Striple RS, a rather sudden yellow one.
