The ideal number of bikes is N+1 and S-1. With N being the number of bikes you currently have, and S being the number of bikes that will result is spousal separation.
It's not that i started with Hastings when had just the two but that's their limit so next time round it will probably be Bennetts or maybe carol Nash but they a don't seem as competitive as they used to be price wise Hastings beat them all by a good margin
If I recall, Hastings would insure up to four bikes when I was looking for quotes for three (I could have mis remembered though....) but obviously insurance is very dependent on our own personal circumstances. I have a fortunate postcode for insurance and my job role brings down bike insurance (but increases car insurance, which is odd....).
I'll have to actually speak to a human instead of the information on their app i know at the time the second bike was £70 as a fixed price for a second bike but together with the Tiger and Firestorm it comes in at £186 fully comp for the two
I got quoted £48.55 for the Thunderbird but that was a single policy with them presuming full no claims but that is on the other two already i always use comparison sites MCN specialise in bike insurance and are usually cheaper than confused or compare but I usually give the previous years company a chance to match or better the quote or at least lower the renewal price but that usually does involve a phone call or two
Yes, car and bikes all have SDP, commuting, business use if I want to claim mileage on the odd occasion I need to go to a different place of work than my usual.
Just out of interest I popped onto the BSA website to check out dealerships..... I live near Glasgow, so a big city location should have a nearby dealership right? The nearest one listed is 78 miles away near Dumfries, but that is a "service station", the nearest real motorcycle shop is 141 miles away on the coastal edge of the Lake District in England! I guess they are not looking to sell many in Scotland.
A couple of friends of mine, both dyed in the wool Triumph men, one having worked at the factory and the other the holder of a number of UK speed records on his Meriden Bonneville set at Elvington have very recently bought Bantams.
None of the dealers will take on any warranty work either, as they’re not being paid by BSA. Residuals are beyond awful… they really do have some serious problems and are not a viable proposition at the moment (IMO, at least).
What has put me off the Bantam now is the 3k service intervals which is recommended that the valves are checked each time although easy enough as they are screw and lock nut but still a faff every service and more labour costs if you take it to the dealership That is another reason I think the viper will be a better bet ok more expensive but the residual is going to definitely be better
Plenty of bikes out there now, sometimes it does feel like overkill. I can like a lot of them, but there are only a handful I’d actually want to live with long term. Guess that’s half the fun… looking is easy, choosing is the hard part.
Hmmmm I am trying to think logically here I have just TWO bikes the 97 Triumph Trophy 900 and the now wrecked 2002 Ducati Monster 620ie now I had put the Ducati up for sale but sales here ae really slow it seems then the collision happened and the injuries meaning no riding for a while then there is the recovery and rebuilding strength and fitness period the Trophy is a wonderful bike but it is very top heavy. So looking for a bike that will be more manageable either lighter or with the weight much lower down like a lowrider what they seem to now call a "Cruiser" so that is what am trying to get to look at and try sitting on and feeling how the weight feels. In truth I am ad at collecting things that I like before moving to Europe I had SIX cars and I still have THREE here Chimaera, MGF and the daily driver a Merc C220 so TWO bikes does not feel excessive. Well I'm currently holding x4 that are mine personally and a further x2 could be in the pipeline. Beware of multi bike policies as they are not all the same. When I bought a new 24 plate, my current multi bike policy wouldn't accept it, meaning I needed a totally separate one so starting again. If thinking of adding something later i.e. few months in, then it would be wise to ask about the intended model before taking the policy.
Ahhh well there are no multi bike policies here each has it's own policy the other thing if the bike is registered it MUST be insured or the will de-register it and that's a hassle to deal with. Even if you never move it if it's registered it has to be insured and if it's registered then it's taxed no such thing as SORN. The good things are no road tax and testing is bi-annual the tax that is due is the municipal tax which you pay on the property and all vehicles registered at that property. Plezier
OK so shockingly I got a phone call after I sent another enquiry through the listing site system what is odder it was not for any of the bikes that had asked about seems someone passed my number along so it means that someone did at least read my email question. Anyway a young man who speaks very good English asked me if I was interested in a Suzuki Intruder and we spoke for about 3/4 hour about things and the bike he then sent me some photos of it and where it is listed he is not the seller it's his father but he does not speak English and I speak very few words of Bulgarian.:- https://www.cars.bg/offer/686387c9c6f541246501810c This is it. Not registered here came from Holland only 17.500km on it 1997 there has been some back and forth on Viber he says they can help with the registration and so am going to take a look at it tomorrow it's about 35km from home by road. Odd thing is that are three of these Intruder 800's for sale fairly local and all three are the same red and two came from Holland and have only 17,000 km on them .............. weird. Plezer
@Plezier They are a pretty robust bike Suzuki ride ability and engine. That looks a very nice machine do let us all know what you think.
Oh I will if possible I want to have a look at a Honda Shadow and a Kawasaki Vulcan but that will mean travelling further. Plezier
