The T140 (and T120) bikes with single carbs have very little room for an air filter, since the single carb is pointed directly at the gigantic frame tube. The popular Emgo offset air filter seems to be the closest thing to working, and it's what mine came with, but to make it fit, you have to crush the paper filter, and then it doesn't seal very well. Maybe it works better with the original Amal carb, but mine has a JRC carb (clone of a keihin, with a special mount plate). I made some modifications to the Emgo filter, and got it to work pretty well, and here's a link to the video I shot.

could you skip the brackets and use something like 3m black weatherstrip cement to glue a round disc onto the filter?

Single carb BSAs have the same problem. id like to put VM mimunis on my Tbolts but there is no room

You could probably glue the filter on, but changing it would be tedious. The cover plate would be simple, but the mount plate that attaches to the carb is pretty complex, and getting the glue cleaned out would be a chore.

I'm actually thinking about making a foam filter element that uses the Emgo offset base, and just let the foam wrap itself around the frame tube. It wouldn't flow any air where it touches, but if I could make the filter deeper on the sides, it might have a net increase in filter areal.

I really like Uni filters, but don't find anything in their catalog that is even close to fitting a single-carbed OIF Triumph.

i used one on a 73 suzuki 250 whenni fitted a VM mikuni.. its flexible enough to slip alongside a central frame tube,
