Coolant change for the Tiger - first time I’ve done it and suspect it may have been a while since it was properly flushed
    upload_2025-8-19_18-23-49.jpeg

The coolant that dropped out was like drinking chocolate in colour, but minimal deposits. However, there was a lot of sludge in the trapped part at the bottom of the expansion bottle
    upload_2025-8-19_18-21-59.jpeg

Took some cleaning to get it all out but went back on looking a lot less sorry for itself
    upload_2025-8-19_18-22-26.jpeg

Fully flushed three times with deionised water taking the bike up to temperature for each one until the fan kicked in and siphoned the bottom of the radiator each time (which I was pleasantly surprised was free from any sludgy deposits).

By the third flush all was very clean that came out.
    upload_2025-8-19_18-22-51.jpeg

I was happy to do the final cylinder drain operation with a new copper washer (having ever so slightly caught the exhaust each time with the back of my fingers)
    upload_2025-8-19_18-23-22.jpeg

All filled up with new coolant
    upload_2025-8-19_18-24-34.jpeg

A short ride round up and down a very steep road to burp any trapped air out and after a final vent on the side stand the screw went back in with a new copper washer
    upload_2025-8-19_18-24-56.jpeg

Bodywork put back and I’m satisfied a job well done

IMG_3417.jpeg IMG_3415.jpeg IMG_3414.jpeg Trading it in actually. I have gone back to BMW after having a Super Tenere and then for the last 3 years my Tiger Rally Pro 900. I have ridden it over 18250 miles in Norway, France, Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Scotland, Ireland and once in Wales. With a great many days out in amongst. Thoroughly enjoyed all of it. Time for a change though. So back to a BMW R1250 GSA. If you guys don’t mind I’ll stick around on here as it’s a nice place.
    Thanks Glenn.

@Glenn2926 Stick around mate, as you know there are plenty of people who ride other bikes and have loads to contribute. It's all about the experiences you bring, I for one am no brand junkie ;) on a side note, how was your experience of the Super Tenere?

Not today but a little while ago I had the suspension upgraded on the Nightstorm to get rid of the wallowing feeling you get on undulating roads and corners. I took it down to Will Burchell at SWB Racing in Ebbw Vale who has put on YSS rear shocks and emulators in the front forks.
There is still some tweaking to do but he was off to race in the Manx GP so that will have to wait until his return but already it is much more planted and once I replace the tyres and do the tweaking I am sure it will handle like it was probably designed to if they hadn't used budget suspension.
A couple of photos taken after a long ride so ignore the fact it needs a clean :p

    Thanks Helmut,
The Super Tenere was a great bike, very capable. I’m always surprised that they didn’t have more of a following among the adventure bike riding fraternity. Mine was a first edition and came with the full luggage option on it. I had it around 8 years and it never let me down once.
It did carry its weight quite high up so sometimes felt a little top heavy but a very good all round bike. I would have no problem either recommending one or even owning one again. Perhaps Yamaha will make a Tenere 900 using their 900 triple motor.

I did similar with my 900st.
The YSS items seem a pretty good product.
You don't look to have a lot of preload set on those rear shocks, make sure you are not using/losing too much stroke on static sag.
Easy to check with a tape measure but needs you and one other person really.
Let me know if you need more info?

Cheers bud, he had a quick adjustment based on my initial feedback but it turns out that was flawed as the front tyre pressure was really low and we didn't know so it was giving a weird feeling. It was literally just before he was heading out of the door for the Manx GP, he's back in a couple of weeks so will go back to him, reset to original then start again. The rear shocks were set by YSS for my weight in the first instance then it was to be fine tuning from there. He really is all over suspension, the full title of his company is actually SWB Racing suspension setup and servicing so it's all good. He has transformed Mrs Visors Street Triple and my Tuono previously.

I'm with @Helmut Visor, @Glenn2926. Please do stick around here on the forum. The key is being a motorcyclist no matter the brand. I am curious why you decided on the BMW R1250 GSA and will be interested in hearing your thoughts on it relative to the Super Tenere and the Tiger Rally Pro 900. Enjoy that new beemer!

Didn't get too far today, just went for a short ride to Shobdon with Helmut on his Tuono as we had a very exciting tip run to do this afternoon, however I only made it one way as I acquired a vicious puncture which the air just hissed out of when it was reinflated. Our very good friends who own a riding school came out with their van to retrieve me and even took the rear wheel off for me at their unit, ready for me to get a new tyre fitted. Luckily I was about to order a new one anyway as this tyre had almost 10000 miles on it so was about done, so it didn't sting toooooo much!!

Not far from home and when my friends had a gap between lessons to come and rescue me, so I count myself fortunate. I could also have taken the Ducati with a pretty new tyre on it, so again this was the "best" tyre to get a puncture in. The blade already has new tyres on order as they've got about 9500 miles on too....so new tyres all round in my collection apart from the front on the Striple which has some life left as I get about 1.5 rears to every front on that.

Expensive month then ouch I just had to have a new tyre on the car unknown to me there was a split on the inner wall pointed out during a service don't crawl around under cars anymore what really annoyed me was it was the best tyre on the car so went with a budget one so it can be changed in the future with the one on the same axle as I prefer matching pairs on each axle I say budget but at £88 it's not exactly that but best price out there I put the size on Google and Asda came up with the best price yes I said Asda you buy through them then they give you the option of the most convenient to you fitters to use

Well @Sandi T I haven’t had much chance to ride the Big Beemer yet. Just a couple of shortish day rides around the Yorkshire Dales. Around 180 miles the first day and around 120 miles the second day.
I’m not going to be riding for a few weeks now as we (my wife and I) are going on a train tour around France, visiting Paris, Nice, Grasse, Monaco, Lyon and Chamonix to visit son and his family before going back to Paris and then making our way back North to Yorkshire. Hopefully the weather will still be good enough to get some riding in when we get home. I’ve a trip to Germany in the early stages of planning for next year so far.

Glad you've been able to rack up at least a few miles, @Glenn2926. Have a fantastic train trip! Please post a few photos for us here on the forum if you would. Is the trip to Germany one you'll do on your motorcycle?

Yeah the Germany trip is with the group I have an annual trip with. It can number anywhere between 6-10 riders. I tend to organise the routes, another lad sorts the accommodation and yet another any ferries. It works for us and we’ve been doing an annual trip since the year 2000.
