    I was there on my speed twin, my first time and certainly not the last. Fantastic event and cause.

    We left from Woodall services.

    I even managed to catch me and my mate waving at someone filming on the A50.

    Nothing too exciting but took my old gal T509 for her MOT. I dont ride in rain nowadays (bad experience on my T300 Sprint 6 yrs ago) but the appointment was booked a couple of weeks back so off I went. Very wary of leaves, metal grids, manholes and oil stains round islands but got there in one piece with freezing fingers. Little play on my phone while waiting and man comes to say its done and all good. MOT pass in pocket I ride home on drying roads, picking my lines till I get back home. Gee I'm such a scaredy cat these days, I used to be the best in the wet in the old days but at 70 and 18 stone I don't think I will bounce as well as then should i come off. Think too much about my sciatica and all my other aches n pains.

    @sprintdave now sciatica, that is a pain in the ar5e!

    Mine comes and goes periodically and appeared last week out of nowhere :tired_face:..... then takes days to wear off :confounded::pensive:

    Hi @Iceman please will you share the materials used for the radiator soldering?

    I am very capable of sorting this, including pressure testing, but I don't specifically have any aluminium flux or solder and have a 675 radiator to do very soon.

    The run out above has again damaged the camera lens. This is the 2nd time this has ocurred. The first time it chipped the actual lens hence after replacement I fitted a lens saver.

    You can make flux quite easily, with household chemicals, that will solder aluminium or stainless steel and you can also buy it ready to use. You can then use regular lead/tin solder. Quite a few videos on youtube. I had a stone through the rad of the ZZR some years back but unfortunately the damage was too great for a local specialist to repair.

    Ah, I have plenty of lead/tin solder but I was of the impression that for aluminium it was a specific grade and not the standard wiring solder most people have.

    Pleasant teatime ride around with mate, through the lanes doing about 50 miles.
    Dry roads and not bad temperatures, but lots of mud on the roads in places, beware!

    Coffee and a pasty at Squires to finish.
    My 765 is the third bike in, the Ducati belongs to a fellow 765 owner.

    New front tire and chain adjustment on the 2018 Bonneville. 4600mi and still had a little left. I normally run tires down to the part that holds the rubber part in place. :rolleyes:

    More better brake pedal.

    IMHO the brake pedal on my Speedmaster is a bit skimpy. I wanted a little more real estate. I scoured the interweb for a rubber cover and found nothing specifically for the Triumph. I thought Motone would surely have something. Nope.

    I bought this brake pedal cover, knowing it probably wouldn't fit. It didn't. The cut-out that goes over the pedal was way too big and it had only one screw hole. It wouldn't be stable. I pulled off the rubber pad and drilled and tapped it to take a second screw and drilled matching holes in the pedal. I installed it then epoxied the rubber pad back on.

    It works.

    Well, not quite " mine" now, but was.
    The radiator had sprung a leak and so a spare from a friend was purchased.
    Whilst me (dad) set to resolving the old one, eldest son set to fitting the replacement.

    This was the issue, the threaded boss, which apparently is quite a common leak area.

    This is after I'd solder repaired it.

    All pipes on ;)
    All bolts tight ;)
    What do you think dad? :blush:

    Err, well it would've been better if you'd fitted the fan first :joy:

    By which time I'd finished the rad repair so the original went back on :cool:

    I thought a share might be useful. Needing mirrors for the 2002 sprint ST. Finding clean OEM mirrors has proved to be tough. I decided on a set of Emgo 20-78211/12. The spacing is 47mm and requires very slight modification. The rubber boot is smaller and provides a clean look. Of course, the Emgo mirrors are not OEM quality. The overall appearance is more compact. I can attach a picture if anyone has interest.

    Hi Eldon, I have been away for a few weeks in warmer climes so only just picked this up, whilst you can use standard tin/lead solder, I use Aluflux and a 1mm alloy solder rod. I removed the cooling fin and then a Dremel to clean up the damaged area, I then used a micro butane torch to solder the damaged area, then acetone to clean the area up, I then used a micro file to clean around the soldered joint, put back the core, primed it with 3 coats of high temp primer, and 2 coats of high temp black gloss. Given I am in no rush I am stripping down all manner of things including the rear suspension again, to re grease everything up. I will put some photos on from the rear wheel spindle and bearings corrosion from my previous post. I have discovered the cause, and to be fair it is not a fault of any Triumph component, but it is from another reputable manufacturer of aftermarket accessories.

    @Iceman thanks, although I've already completed it last sunday.
    I used an Alubuild 300 product that has a 300⁰C melting point and uses no flux.
    The top nutsert fitting had a very minor weep, which apparently is quite common, have you come across that before?

    Here's the soldered job prior to painting.
