Looks like a lovely day and way to start off 2023, @Iron! What's the story on the bike you're lusting after?
Rare beasts indeed. The only examples I've ever seen were at the MGP back in the late '90's when there were 2 in the classic parade, plus there was an example in the museum on Snaefell.
Cracking day today in Cheshire. Took the tiger for a run down the A49, lovely. Bike needed a good clean when I got home. Feet up now with a cuppa tea.
Had to head away from the Coromandel, with a weather bomb forecast to cause slips. I forgot to record the initial trip to Tairua, but it was slow and slippery Really happy I waterproofed my jacket with bees wax after the recent soaking it was only a little damp, in the arms, after 2.5 hour journey Happy new year to all , wishing riding weather to come
It's a few years since I spent time on the A49 and at one time knew the bends very well. First wife came from south of Shrewsbury and many a Monday morning, when she lived at home, was a thrash up the A49 around 06.30 and back to near Leeds, some 120 mile one way commute and straight to work
Thanks for the well wishes for 2023, @Dartplayer! I wish the same to you and those you love--including the motorized kind.
Caught it on the news Darty .. jeeezus bloody 'ell, eh ? Lucky you got out, apparently heaps are stuck there. Climate change ?? ... hmmm ? doesn't seem like your part of the world is burnin' up .... just nice temperatures !
Welded the exhaust hanger back on to the Explorer. Giving it a good wash and noticed welds cracked on both sides. It’s a weak spot on these, same thing happened about 7-8 years ago and got a new frame from Triumph under warranty …..don’t think they’d be so interested on a 10+year old bike! Ok, it’s a bit scruffy cos done with arc welder as no longer own a mig welder but it’s a lot stronger than a frame from the factory! …….Does anyone know the paint colour code for the frame?
Happy I’m home @surleyone2. Humidity is bad, but we did get a week of summer weather after 3 months of rain. Basically didn’t get spring this year, but temps are only 1-2’c higher than normal. Wettest year on record for Sydney in OZ and we had wet winter/spring. Didn’t expect more rain for summer
I was getting ready to go for a ride, the bike is parked at the end of the garage in front of my car, I started pushing the bike while still on the center stand the floor is kind of slippery, right ? until it isn't, the center stand gave way, the rear tire landed on my foot, this caused the bike to lean away from me and I could not hold it, I watched in slow motion as it fell towards my car. Luckily nothing broke and the car did not get scratched or dented, just have to retighten the mirror that hit the car, jumped on the bike and had a good time. Learn and move on
Lucky mate ! They're bloody heavy (any of them) when they lean away from you. Usually, apart from any damage is the pain caused to ... ahem ....different parts of our bodies when going for the save ! Waiting for the upholsterer to get back from holiday at moment. Luck again, and a good year to yer.
Enjoyed the weather change to get a ride in. Stopped for a bite and the cars in the carpark were all old school
Forecast was for a sunny day and getting up to 5C in afternoon, so had planned on a days riding but the frost everywhere in the morning convinced me it would be wise to reign back my expectations. So I waited until noon and stuck to the major roads… Of course, downside of riding this time of year is a coating of salty sludge… So hosed off bike and dried it when I got back.
Yesterday I picked up some of my Thruxton parts that I’d had powdercoated and some that were anodised. Rear shock reservoirs, Fork uppers and knuckles were dropped off for the suspension rebuild. So this afternoon I refitted the top & bottom yoke and clip ons in readiness for suspension coming back next week.
