Thanks but I already have the little ol' viking one earmarked for this build. The Admin Staff gets all mine. As you know, they are much more powerful if given as a gift.....just great aren't they?
That's right, I remember the photo of the little viking now, @Iron. Admin Staff has great taste! (I'm a "viking" from w-a-y back--my ancestors were from Sweden). They are definitely more powerful when given--and received--as a gift. Love 'em!
Had some wet sumping - which took some sorting as the PRV and the oil pump both decided not to work properly (it was a new PRV too) so when I thought I had it figured out the other decided not to work. Still have a bit of stand off with the carbs but......sorted Here's a before and after (or rather, after and before) And a hand painted Zombie petrol cap just to finish it all off - hooray.... over....thanks.....
Great news on sorting it out, just takes one little piece of shit and it sticks to the ball in the pump, chops it in half and the other bit jams the PRV lol.
I actually stripped the engine down again to the sludge trap. It had a brand new Morgo and a brand new PRV. After our chat I was thinking cracked crank or, as you mentioned, maybe the trap plug letting by. I swapped the pump and the PRV with a known working pair from a good running bike so though I may as well go in for a look. Nothing, all was ok. Bought a couple of LFHarris PRVs (they always come in handy anyway) and another Morgo pump. While I was waiting for delivery I tried the new PRV that I'd taken off and still sumping. Took the pump off and bench tested - just a weenie dimple in the oil when pulling out the plunger. I tried re-seating without success. Put on the new PRV and the Morgo and all is well. I measured the spring and dimensions on the failed PRV and nothing seemed wrong. Didn't test the spring but it felt ok. It still went in the bin. So, it was a dodgy new PRV piston sticking I think. Then I fell into the trap of trying a working pump and PRV - that then both failed. Then convincing myself it was something I'd buggered up. Is there a moral? Yes, it was something I'd buggered up but it wasn't what I thought it was......
