Early engines with the drilled feed to pushrods i put the Thackery against the outer rocker ends so that oil will splash the valve tips and adjuster and later rockers with slots in i put a plain washer next to the rockers so oil is sprayed through the slot SR :)

Actually you remind me of a chap who I worked alongside in the 80’s. He worked mainly on a lathe making tools but he was a master of all the machines in the workshop and always had some projects of his own on the go. We later called him the “Scientist “ on account of there being nothing, and I mean nothing he didn’t know about engineering. Put simply he probably forgot more than most will ever know about the subject. He was involved with fettling speedway engines but his coup de grace was making his own 4 valve cylinder head for his Velocette 500. Yes you did read that right. He brought the rough casting in from time to time and set it up in the lathe to machine the various surfaces and I saw the rocker arms he made too and they looked like a proper factory job. I never got to see the bike while he was alive but I went to a classic show at the Peterborough show ground about 6 years ago and it was on display there.
I guess what I’m saying is you clearly have as much skill and experience as our Eric (Stanbra) from Sheffield and I love reading your write ups on the rebuilds.

whats th eskinny on that sidestand lug?

it appears to be a closed loop style? are you cutting it to fit it around the frame tube or what?

the frame im working on is not a street legal machine, so i have other options for a stand, but i'd like a sidestand anyway. so im looking at what you do

On this one as the frame is good i will section the lug and pin and weld the outer half and weld on the second part to cosmetically finish it.

A little up date, trial fit of the tank for welding on the new frame bracket and fitting seat pan and adjusting the hinges. Also had to fit some Heli coils so as i could fit the new studs to the rocker boxes.

At last the cyl head has been blasted and valves lapped in and reassembled, just waiting on the crank now so the engine parts can all be put back together.

I dunno why I go to all the trouble of cutting these things off when chaps like you just weld them straight back on again. :)
I can agree to the freezin' temperatures yesterday, still bleedin cold today but doesn't feel so bad as I'm trying to change some tyres. The rim lock isn't helping either.
    Looking good for paint.

Perhaps we could just swap frames in the future Steve and save us both a load of work lol.
