Hi all, I have drained my fuel tank after nearly 5 years of standing and want to replace the fuel filter just to be on the safe side, and because it has never been replaced. Before I embark on this, can anyone help with the following please? Recommended filter brand or buy genuine Triumph? Will I need to replace any hoses, gaskets and seals? Any other tips? Thanks in advance. Geoff
Hi Geoff, the fuel filter to use is Mahle, they are the original supplier to Triumph, ironically they are used by many manufacturers including BMW, who are significantly cheaper, the Triumph branded one is around £40 however the very same filter can be bought for under £20. The filter is a Mahle KL -145. I would inspect the fuel hoses and if in any doubt I suggest renewing the 4 fuel hoses and clips, 3 are the same, part number T1242056 and the other is T3620094. These are available from Triumph as I did a similar job for an acquaintance a few months back. If for any reason you are unable to locate the fuel hoses then you can get generic hose from a variety of suppliers (and cheaper). Any problems and just come back and I will be able to help further (hopefully). Ride safe all.
Thank you so much Iceman, this is excellent advice, much appreciated and exactly what makes this forum great. Many Thanks Geoff
Did this for my 2008 America , hardest part is getting All that back in the tank not really hard but more of a faff than I anticipated
Bit late now but I would have replaced the gasket between fuel pump unit and tank - still if yours isn't leaking then all good!
Good shout thanks, the old one was perished so did get replaced as well. There has been 5 litres of E5 in there for a couple of weeks now and no sign of any leaks.
