Engine nice and hot, dropped the sump guard, then cracked the sump bolt. Now difficult bit was the oil filter removal. Got nearly every type of tool to do the job, but the correct fitting tool slipped. Had to use the 3 legged remover with emery tape rapped around for grip as the filter is small in diameter. It would appear the cone tool has a lip which is wider than the gap between the engine and filter. So not sure what type is used at the shop. I think they used fully sinthetic as it was a bit redder than the semi I've used. But it's all done now, most fiddly oil change I've done on a bike.
They have a nasty habit of ridiculously tightening oil filters in garages, mine was nearly impossible to take off; previous owner had done all his maintenance at Triumph Dublin. Ever since I've been doing mine, I apply the correct torque, and can almost twist it out by hand, when it's time for a change. And not a drop leaking.
Found the correct fitting cup which is in alloy. This has no lip so fits up into the housing. £4 on fleebay.
