Might as well make a start on part four for CERBERUS Have these left over from that cantilever toolbox that I dismantled Picked the sizes I reckon will do the job and attached them to the already drilled holes in something for CERBERUS part two Feckin hell ......me?.....thinking ahead hard to believe And yes welding will be involved
It's great how you fabricate whatever you need. I am a designer and frequently do the same, but metal working is beyond me. Perhaps one day...
Cheers mate I wish I could be better at the design side of things as I would get these kind of jobs done a lot quicker
Measured then knocked into shape in the vice with a lump hammer Fitted to CERBERUS These are being done on both sides of the bike
With the metal so thin - how are you going to stop pannier flex which may cause contact with the wheel on banking?
HA HA whilst I agree them bits are thin you cant blame @dilligaf for normally chosing light thin grade steel, normally its bits left over from the town's old shipyards but on this ocasion its using up what he has. FTFY
The two dome head bolts show where I’m gonna mount the lower brackets for the side panniers Got loads of measuring and working out to do yet though
Re-fitted the undertray and gonna have to attack it from the top side so I get the hole in the right place on the underneath
This is the mounting point I’ll be using as seen from the top Meant I had to remove everything that I’ve made so far to get access to it
Nearly dropped a big bollock After putting the undertray back on the bike I was gonna sharpen a piece of threaded bar and drive it through the undertray so the holes would be in the right place The bar wouldn’t pass through Was just about to drill it when I thought I’d better have another look So Feckin glad I did The mount I was gonna use underneath is about an inch in front of the hole I was looking at at the top Back to the drawing board
Getting a bit fed up of putting the Feckin undertray on and off But now using the rearmost mounting like I planned in the first place That’s why it was so important to get part one for CERBERUS right in the first place Anyway problem solved by passing a drill right through the mount and through the undertray
Getting there Slowly but surely Getting a bit fed up now so think I’ll get cleaned up and retire to the back garden and celebrate VE Day
I’ve had a few days off from this as I misplaced my motivation supplements Started making these bobbins yesterday and after a lot of trial and error finally settled on this design and got them finished this morning These attach to the Underneath of the bobbins I made in something for CERBERUS part one after cutting suitable dome head bolts I’m now ready to fabricate the lower pannier mounts
