Changing mi reyt hand crankcase and clutch covers. Got little starter motor one off, but big uns solid. According to t'Haynes manual, tha takes all t'bolts out, and the cover "lifts off". Av been tapping it wi a rubber mallet, but it's not budging! Any ideas, please chaps?
Aren't there any "pry" points, little lips, for want of a better phrase, that you can gently lever against? A bit of pressure coupled with some blows from a rubber mallet should get it free. As DD says, there will be locating dowels and the gasket will also be sticking the casing to the engine.
Spray brake cleaner in gap of crank cases this stuff is great at un sticking things, then with rubber gloves on for grip get hold of case and move side to side, good luck.
Sorted it. Thanks everyone. As Yorkie mentioned, I found a couple of places where thi was a bit of overlap. I managed to get a long screwdriver from t'other side ot bike and tap it wit mallet. It came away at bottom, but were stuck at top. Had to take starter motor off, to release it, then seperate it from t'crankcase ont bench. Clutch cover toneet, more fun and games!!
If I remember right there’s a pry point bottom left as you look at the clutch cover, if your oil sticker is still there it’s near that. I’ll look for a picture.
Only had two Dave, only had two. It's day one of week 7 in lockdown that's screwing with my mind, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.
That would be two packets daily if your exhibition at Donington last year is anything to go by Me thinks you’ve become addicted to them Andy
