Having bought a really nice 2011 Bonneville T 100 today, I asked the dealer to remove the triumph immobiliser alarm, because I think they flatten the battery and also I just would not want to get caught out miles from anywhere with a an immobiliser problem as there would be nothing I could do. this was a added extra a previous owner had fitted. Having this removed would there be any reliability issues???? The main agent dealer says its easy to do, anyone knows what's involved???? Many thanks Mallywoods
Yes I do well, if an immobiliser goes wrong, even a key problem you are well stuffed. I just hope removing the alarm won't be detrimental to the general running of the bike, but with my limited knowledge of motorcycle electrics, I hope another member will let me know. many thanks mallywoods
Look for a block connector on the rear mudguard behind the ECU & battery area. It should have a visible short wire loop providing continuity if there is no immobiliser fitted.
Thats very good, but my question is .. by removing the alarm, is that deprimentrial to the normal operation of the bike.
Many Thanks. I had this feeling that wires going in and out of the ECU would be cut and cause a host of intermmitant faults in the future. what I can gather the ECU really has nothing to do with the alarm.??? Thank you for your replies mallywoods
Hi, with regards the picture with the links. Is this the same for all triumphs. I have a speed triple 995i and the immobiliser won’t disarm. Can’t find an in line fuse the manual talks about so next option is to remove the unit and link it out.
