I have just fitted some Thruxton R Ohlins Rear shocks to my Speed Twin. picked them up on Fleabay at a decent price. Fitted straight with no problems. Any Suggestions on settings anyone ? i haven't been out for a decent ride yet but it seems to rides much better. i guess it would look better with black springs. cheers Ady
Put them back to standard ( Thruxton) settings. I cant imagine much real difference, Set preload to your weight maybe.
have a look at my earlier post about it. its made by Ventura https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/grab-rail-for-a-speed-twin-1200.19991/
Personally I like the yellow springs; adds a splash of color. Looking forward to making this upgrade on my black Speedy
Nice one i had a good ride out today , the bike is so much better , going out two up tomorrow so lets see what its like. I am now on standard settings. Next to sort the front end out
They look stunning Ady.... It looks like my bank account is going to be a little lighter next month when I get back from holiday....
I pick my speed twin up early next year from Webb's, it will the first bike since 1999 that ive had that does not have Ohlins as standard (Mille Tuono & Triple "R" ). I will ride it for a few months and make a decision wether to upgrade or not, it felt a good set up when i had my test ride.
Ohlins rear shocks obtained and installed! I’ve set them up for “comfort” (20 clicks compression, 40 clicks rebound) and the least amount of preload. I weigh about 160 lb; ride is much better than stock with this setup. Even a hack like me can feel it. And there’s a nice splash of yellow color on the black bike.
Can you tell me if you used the nuts and bolts from the original shock or any additional hardware please? I’ve just bought a set from an 2018 thruxton so waiting on them to be delivered
