How many rs models with QS were delivered? How common is this Problem? 5 of 100 or 5 of 2000. Do we have any numbers?

Glad it’s working better for you. Also, it didn’t matter what mode I was in, it did it in road, sport and in rider mode with TC set to track.

Last time I was in my local dealer they had taken the QS off all the RS models in the shop, I didn’t ask if they were planning on putting them back on if a customer asked for it.

So I think this must be some problem of the gearbox, apparently the Quickshifters can function properly with some gearboxes, mine works even under full load with 10 K Rpm. So maybe some gearboxes are malfunctioning and it becomes evident only when using Quickshifter and not under clutch operation.

A quickshifter on the road is completely pointless, I'm still having problems with mine, its going in for a new selector rod soon, the parts on back order..... wonder why?
The qs will be getting switched off and only activated if i ever do a track day.
Im on the camp of steve, triumph have completely pissed me off, fortunately for me my dealer is great and have pushed for a fix, because unlike the manufacturer, they actual seem to give a feck!

I use my quite often by overtaking cars or reducing the gears. It is comfortable and quicker then clutch and you do not disturb the flow. You can live without one but it is more fun if you can use one.

I have ridden 16, 17 and 18 model Speed Triples and thought the gear boxes were positively agricultural compared to the Street Triple 675 & 765.

As I’ve typed before a QuickShifters operating range is a lot higher in the Rev range than most of us would be at on the road a 675 would naturally be revving higher.

So guys only use as a QS at high revs or the clunk you’ll get is the gearbox being loaded as the cut in ignition is too short

No QuickShifters work well at low revs unless you have a virtually closed throttle it’s simple engineering. The QuickShifters cuts the ignition for a preset time at high revs the change is completed very fast and very smooth.

At low revs the shift is nowhere near as quick, now tell me that’s incorrect, just sayin:p

If you buy an adjustable QuickShifter you can change the delay time but the standard Triumph one will have a fixed time and can’t work correctly at low revs hence the clonk and gearbox issues.

I wouldn’t fit a QuickShifter on my Thruxton but I would on any racebike

Enough with telling us how to use our quickshifters. You’re on a thread with people who are experiencing a “malfunctioning” issue, not a bunch of idiots who don’t know how to change gears. I personally take offence to your comments.

Steve, you’re upset about what Triumph have done to you, I’m only explaining how a QuickShifter should be used, if advice on how you should use one upsets you I’m sorry but I didn’t break your box,

What’s upsetting me is you have repeatedly told us how to use our quickshifters. You’re implying that we don’t know how to use it. For the unlucky owners who are experiencing a malfunctioning quickshifter /gearbox, it’s not helping that you repeatedly tell us if we just shift at high rpm’s our bikes will work as advertised, or a least it seems you’re implying that.

Steve you’re misunderstanding what I’m saying, yes the shift will be smooth at high revs and cloncky at low that’s just a fact, what I’m saying is you have an inherent fault with parts fouling coupled to a gearbox that may not be perfect which is causing all your problems..

But I’m not implying anything about misunderstanding how a QuickShifter works I’m only saying that it won’t help your problem if they’re used at low revs

Its weird you say that the 765 qs works great, the 765 i had on loan did exactly the same fault as my speed rs...... missed 4th gear! They arent perfect by any stetch lads.
I think we should all just chill out at this point, we can debate this all day but really its not going to achieve anything.
Its triumphs responsibility to sort the bikes effected and I'd love to send them an email personally, can anyone provide me the email address please.
My love for the brand is diminishing, the older stuff is just built so much better than these.

Well said. I’m sorry I got the wrong impression, as my judgment may be clouded by my frustration.

I’m soaking in a cold tub at the moment ;). Is the 765 a dual channel quickshifter? Because I don’t think it has a blipper. Don’t know if that makes a difference when engineering and mating the gearbox to a blipper/ shifter vs just a quickshifter.

Yeah your right, the one i borrowed had an upward qs as well but it still made the same fault as ours.
