    Good news for those that find the stock suspension not to their liking. What we need next is somebody to sort out something for the front end.

    I emailed Nitron and asked the question but they said, at the moment, they haven't got a cartridge kit to match the shocks. They might be hinting that something's in development?

    plenty of firms out there already doing cartridge kits for the speed twin.

    I know, but I prefer the look, quality and price of the Nitron NTR R3 dampers to the Swedish Öhlins, plus Nitron are in Oxfordshire. It would be nice not to mix'n match that's all.

    Because I'm at the lower end of the average rider weight (75kg/11.5 stone), I'm finding the springs are too firm and my rear shocks are on the softest setting. I know from the comments of heavier riders that there is nothing wrong with the stock suspension but I'm not getting the same connection with the road. I guess Triumph set them up for an average 200lbs/90kg rider.

    I had 80kg of son riding pillion the other day and didn't bother to change the rear preload to see the difference which was obviously too soft and wallowy and used most of the available travel.

    The cheapest route would be just to change the springs front and rear as the damping is okay but ideally the valving needs matching to the springs so I'm calling Steve Jordan near Leatherhead to sort something out.

    I love the simplicity of the Triumph but perhaps I'm somewhat spoilt by the electronically adjustable Ohlins that were on the Multistrada I had last. I would like to have the confidence in the handling and grip that others find, so refining the suspension to match the performance of the brakes, tyres and engine is my aim.
    It might not be that long before Triumph release the Speed Twin R as has been suggested in the press as the current model leaves room for an Ohlins specced bike and price.

    52DD22AF-F8F3-4794-9FC9-F38BE0B308D7.jpeg I don’t know if this is helpful for this bike, but i purchased a second hand set of Thruxton R rear shocks and had them revalved and sprung for my weight and Ohlins internals into the forks on a Thruxton S this in total was just under £1200.00 but transformed the bike

    Just seen on FB, Nitron UK announced on 3 July that they've released a 22mm TVT Fork Cartridge Kit for the BMW R nineT. I've only seen 25mm kits listed in the UK so I presume they might be quite close to releasing 22mm kits for Triumphs once they've tested it.

    Ooh, I was quite interested in the cartridge kit for my R9T ...............until I saw the price. £948!!! :eek:

    Incidentally, I’ve just had a quote for a fork revalve and a new shock for my Daytona from Maxton. £1100. o_O That’s nearly as much as the bike’s worth!

    I’ve just compromised and gone for a YSS shock at £300 and I’ll rebuild the forks myself. ;)

    That one’s for the Racer which has bog standard conventional forks. Mine’s got the U/D forks which need the more expensive kit :rolleyes:
    £660 is still ridiculous, especially as it says on their website that the TVT cartridge kit needs special tooling and their specific oil and should be fitted at one of their specialist dealers, which will no doubt not be included in the price. o_O
