Hey people. I am in a bit of a mess with my beast. As in the title I have a 93 trophy 1200 and he has been stored in my dad's garage for a while. We are currently overhauling him with tank cleaning/sealing, brakes, seals ect. He will NOT hold a start!!!! It turns over nice, compression is there and it fires to a nice tone only to die instantly. 20 turn overs later I have no idea where to begin. I know it's been sitting for a while but this had never happened. So to cut it shorter. It fires, sounds like it wants to run but as soon as you realise the ignition switch it dies.......any advice from fellow triumph owners?????

Try running on prime. Fuel tap aiming upwards. You say you have done the tank, have you done the carbs too?
If its getting fuel on prime setting and dying when the starter is released then its probably the pilot circuit that's blocked.
Update.... removed carbs #$^%! Cleaned out all jets/ reservoirs made sure that they was no blockage (to the best of my ability) refitted. Fired up!! Sounded very rough. Exhausts had some heat. Had to keep rpm up to keep him awake. Died out back to square 1. Will not hold start again.....
Ok guys I have had a good read of my trophy bible and like you guy said I am pretty sure the pilot jet is blocked as I didn't locate that during the carb clean. Really appreciate all of your advice. That's it for today as I am full up on petrol and cleaning spray. I will crack on again tomorrow and keep you posted. Glad the triumph crew came through
Ok crew here's the scoop. Removed carbs and cleaned out pilots. Tick tick tick boom! Off he went spluttering and rumbling. It's so good to here it run but it sounds quite rough. I'm pretty sure she is only firing on 3 cylinders so I guess my next mission is to check the spark plugs. Also a question..... when I try to open him up it wants to cut out, it's fine on idle though. Does that mean I have a problem with my vacuum not drawing enough fuel or have I messed up the seals on the floats in the carbs because I have been removing them so much?????I was very gentle
