Good (sunny!) day all! I am thinking of upgrading my 2008 Speed Triple Monoshock as mine is now looking very shabbie indeed. I have heard that the Nitron shocks are very good for the money but wanted someone's personal opinion on them before I part with my hard earned cash. Does anyone have one fitted? And if so how does it change the feel of the bike? Is it far superior to the OEM Shock? There's £200 between the R1 and R2. I only ride road and very rarely take a pillion so is it worth the extra cash to get the R2? Thanks for your time Hope everyone is well Have a good (and safe) easter weekend. Nick
I have had the R3 on a previouse 2010 Speed Triple and an R2 on my current 2010 Speed Triple To be honest once fitted I didn't meddle with the settings much, but it is good to be able to make adjustments if needed If cash is a big factor tan I am sure the R1 would be good, so long as the settings work for you If you can spare thecextra, I would say the R2 is worth it, but only if you want to get the settings perfect
The Nitrons have very good reports. If you don't mess with the settings generally then no point spending extra IMO. The shock will be matched to your requirements and should be better than the old one. Whether you notice or not will depend on your riding style and and how much you notice the suspension. The shock will include a new spring matched to your weight so that may be the most noticable improvement. Yes a good quality British brand !
Have u tried maxton?great service and great shocks.. I wouldn’t spend the extra money unless keen on a track day..

Yes I fitted myself and had my forks revalved at the same time, the shock was £630 plus vat, they also do one with out the remote resiviour for £460 plus vat. These are built for your weight and riding style. They are top quality and Maxton are very helpful and knowledgeable. The fitting is very easy especially with front and rear stands, when changing the rear, I used for tie downs on the front stand and an axel stand under the frame behind the engine, with the exhaust off and a helper it's easy.to raise the rear wheel and have some one pop the bolts out.

I’ve had the Nitron on both my Speed Triples, both 2008 bikes. Was going for the pricier Ohlins but the dealer said these are just as good. They made a difference - can’t say in terms of handling but the damping is smoother and more controlled and the spring less harsh. They’re proper bespoke shocks, valved and sprung to your weight so that alone is way better than the one size fits all standard unit. I’d also recommend new fork pistons / valves like the K-Tech ones for the Showa forks fitted and custom springs for the forks because together they really do transform the standard harsh ride. I never bothered with the remote adjuster as I don’t mess with the settings but they do have the damping dial on the unit for some tool free adjustment. Finally, Nitron do a Black spring as a no cost option which is a MUST.
