Arno, that does look similar to the issue I had, although my lever is different, the mounting bracket appears the same. I was given a new lever the same day as I reported it but I've since been informed that they have been supplied another part to replace.
There are several reports about the 'slipping clutch' that's actually a sticking lever on the RS. Here's a link to one of my posts: https://www.thetriumphforum.com/threads/slipping-clutch.15470/#post-214646 It's very easy to fix and since I removed and re-greased mine, I've had no further trouble. It would be good to know about an alternative or updated part however, because it's definitely worth fixing under warranty. It absolutely shouldn't do it in the first place.
Yes , mine is sticking too , no clutch slip though . Will try and clean and lube it ( it doesnt appear dirty )
Update: measured the distance at cable adjuster, took the thing apart, cleaned it (not much dirt visible), applied a tiny bit of grease, put it back together, and set the cable adjuster to previous measured value. Works fine again! All within 10 min. Saves me a trip to the dealer. Tanks for your replies! Will test drive tommorow, but am fully confident.
Test drive went splendid. Paid a visit to the dealer for check-up, all was fine. Mentioned the noisy break pads as well, without any hesitation the mechanic took the pads out and did his thing. Chain was a bit slack too, also solved. AND: they made a note to fix the clutch lever at all speeds who are, and will be, delivered. Talking about good service!
So this has happened the last two times I’ve got my RS out of the shed for a ride. Rolled it out start it up then after a few seconds it dies. The ignition fuse is blown. Once I’d give it a faulty fuse or one of those things but that has happened the last two times now. Looks like it may have to go back to the dealers
Picked up the new Speedy RS last Saturday and wouldn't start. The tech, sales guy and service guy stayed on after hours to investigate fault. Found that the wiring coming from the right switch cube had come out slightly. Turns out the plastic lug that the cables are cable tied too had broken off, appears the cable tie had been over pulled at the factory, so new switch cube authorised on Monday by the factory.
So on the nicest day we’ve had here in Blighty for a while I go to get the bike out... and the ignition fuse blows again. Replace fuse and it did it again. Worked out it’s when I apply the brakes so unplugged the rear light cluster. No blown fuse this time but can’t ride wouthout rear lights! Booked into dealers Monday for them to figure it out A.
Isolating the fault sounds really encouraging, despite it being a pain in the rear (light). Faulty connector maybe...or the rear light unit itself? Very interested to hear what's causing it Fingers crossed that you'll quickly find the solution now.
The RAC guy came and had a look. He thinks it’s a faulty light unit too. Booked recovery to dealer for Tuesday. I’m not to enthralled with this bike after having my street for three years no problems I’ve had a few with this in a couple of mongs
It's strange how many of the issues people have encountered with the RS are around common parts with other models - the joystick switch cube that's shared with the Street, the sticky clutch lever - and in my case, the Brembo brake lever too (I think also shared with the Street RS?)...and now potentially, a rear light unit that's not changed on the Speed in several years. They appear to have used a special crap-parts bin at the factory, especially to wind up RS owners. Such a shame, because in every other respect, the bike is spectacular. I'm sure you'll get it sorted quickly now - and then hopefully, you can rekindle the love
UPDATE: So I got it back from the dealers yesterday all working. It was my own fault, when I fitted the Evotech tail tidy I pinched one of the wires. This caused the rear light cluster to fail and (god knows why) blew the front brake switch. Triumph were reasonable and paid for the parts, I paid for labour so can’t really fault them there. Just glad to have a resolution and a working bike. Rode home 40 miles in the pouring rain but still with a smile on my face! Andy.
