I have some aftermarket silencers arriving next week for the Bonny, although I'm hoping they'll be louders, not silencers For the time being this will be the only mod, I'm not messing with the air box, AI or O2 sensors for the time being, I just want a better sound than the current sewing machine noise. Other mods may come later. Some people say you should re-map the ECU, other that if you're not riding hard that it isn't necessary. I have decided that I shall be doing an ECU remap using TuneECU, I have a cable on order from fleabay and have downloaded TuneECU on to the laptop. My question is, which of the available ECU maps would be the best to load? Which of the available maps is closest to the the Triumph TORS map? Any advice would be appreciated.
I lied this is the one i loaded for my bonneville america. http://www.tuneecu.com/Tunes_in_Hex...r/20516_noSpeed_plus5F 5L_boost_L_for_pop.zip From tuneecu site though. Andy
This map is for the bonneville america, yours is the bonneville t100 I believe so probably not the same but on tune ecu if you scroll down there is a big list to chose from. Andy
Right, an update. My new silencers arrived on Tuesday and it only took 15 minutes a side to put them on Also the cable from fleabay to remap the ECU turned up as well. Having fitted the new bits I fired it up and my God are they better!!! It now sounds like a Triumph should do. Took it for a ride and it sounds glorious, however, as expected it pops and bangs when you roll off the throttle, scaring the horses and small children and making anyone who has served in our wonderful armed forces dive for cover shouting 'Incoming!!' I couldn't do the re-map yesterday, I had a date, but first thing this morning I was out in the garage with the seat off. TuneECU worked as advertised with absolutely no drama. I read the existing map which was 20191 and saved it to the laptop. I then installed the new map 20334 and that was that. I put the fuses for the lights back in and did the TPS reset. She started from cold at the first press of the starter and ran the bike on idle for the recommended 20 minutes without touching the throttle. She runs like a dream, smooth and responsive and the power delivery is superb. With the 20334 map loaded there wasn't a single pop or bang on over-run or at any other throttle setting. In fact it's so smooth and pleasant to ride I'm not sure I'm going to bother with any other engine mods.
I have a 2015 Bonneville and am looking to get road legal aftermarket exhausts to make the Triumph sound like a Triumph. Can you please let me know which exhausts you went for?
Thanks. After looking around, I have decided to go with Dunstall as they seem to sound good, from the videos that I have seen. I am assuming that EFI remapping is required? Another silly question - Does this modification need to be declared to insurance company?
Reviving this. On my 2017 T100, I dub Motone x-pipe, British Customs Shorty Predators, and Booster Plug. I followed the ECM relearn procedure of starting bike and letting idle thru one cycle till cooling fan kicked in. I then took a short easy ride, not getting into it. Just a easy ride. That’s it. Bike runs fantastic, No popping, no surging, smooth acceleration thru the range, Better low end torque. The mods totally woke up the beast. Took bike in later for annual. ECU scan shows everything tip top.
