Did you get this fixed OK? The juddering can sometimes be down to a slight misalignment of the front forks when the pinch bolt on the right-hand fork leg is tightened. The solution is to slacken the pinch bolt and pump the front forks up and down a few times with the front brake held on. Then without moving the front wheel retighten the pinch bolt. If it's still a problem, then go and find some rough roads and ride hard - this will bed the forks in.
I've actually just emailed the dealer to take it in for another look. There's definitely something and it's quite annoying. I will show them your reply, thank you.
Update. I took the bike back to the dealers, again, as the "juddering" was driving me mad! They had it for about 4 hours today and it's way better, thankfully. They stripped the wheel down, re-balanced, checked for any lumps/bumps etc. Forgive my ignorance plus a bad memory, but he mentioned a factory set tolerance of 20 thousandths and they got it down to 8 thousandths. It's all too technical for me. Anyway, she runs much better and I can finally start enjoying riding her. ( As the Welsh guy said about his favourite sheep) I'm Welsh so don't moan!
Hi Jerican. Good news. Just to make it easier to understand: 20 thousandths refers to 20 thousandths of an inch. Or 0.5mm They have reduced this on your brake to 8 thousandth of an inch (0.2mm) which is about the width of two human hairs. I am presuming they are referring to the amount of run-out on your disc measured using a dial test indicator.
I know it's a measurement, but I don't listen properly, so when he was explaining what they had done it was in one ear and out the other! I'm the same with names! Anyway, time to start shopping for new parts!
Shame that you didn't listen more carefully because the feedback could have been useful to other forum members.
I'll email the dealer and ask. From the dealer. We checked the run out and out of round of the rim (tire off). Run out (side to side) was .007 and out of round was .015.Spec is up to .020. Left the run out alone and corrected out of round to .007. Re mounted tire and re balanced the wheel. With the rim being a wire spoke arrangement, there may have been settling and wearing in of components. It may need to be tweaked from time to time,( at tire replacement time would be a good idea), probably less often as the mileage increases.
Thanks for that Jerican, it will certainly be useful information for other forum members having similar issues.
