One of those phone calls that knocks you sideways?
I don't mean those nasty ones with bad news, but one on a subject that you thought was done and dusted.
About an hour ago I have a call on my mobile from a private number, which I ignore. A minute later the home phone rings, which is unusual as I have a BT Call Guardian telephone. Sorry, you're starting to nod off, I'll crack on. 'Hello, this is so-and-so from Essex Crime Bureau'. Oh, thinks I, 'Hi, how can I help?' 'We have been contacted by Warwickshire police to advise us that your stolen Speed Triple has been recovered' she replies!
A sudden surreal moment occurs. Eight weeks ago I sorted things out with the insurers and a new steed is being enjoyed as I write. How odd that, if the bike now belongs to MCE's insurer/underwriter, they still contact me. I can only assume I am still on record at DVLA as the keeper and how ever they identified the bike it's led them to me.
The only thing I have been thinking on is, the parts I fitted to the bike - levers, exhaust, bar end mirrors etc, are they mine? I have all the original parts still, which I guess actually belong to the insurer. I'm curious as, when I rang to advise them of the changes I made, they tell you that for insurance purposes the value is always calculated on that of a factory standard example.

    Good question Dave
Be interesting to see how it pans out if you decide to try and get your parts back ;)
Would you be in a position to buy the bike back?? Could be a bit of a bargain depending on damage and if it was stolen for parts or thrashed to bits??

You would be doing your civic duty collecting it after being contacted by the authorities ;)

As I usually do, when getting home from work, I checked my emails for sex toy adverts (did that come out loud?) and MCE claims dep had sent me info about what to do about continuing my claim! How did they know? Why contact me if the claim is settled? Will probably ring the recovery firm later today and see how Speedy is.

It did occur to me that technically it's no longer my bike as the keys and V5C are in the hands of MCE.

Just spoken to the recovery firm about Speedy. It appears he met with a flaming end and was put in a canal to cool off :confounded:

I tried looking for the 'Oh no!' emoji but wan't one.
Sorry your bike met it's end like that.

I am considering additional security for my bike.
Already have tracker, disc lock, ground anchor and 'bloody big chain', garage dead lock and ground anchor in front of door.
    What else could I do...

    Look after your new steed...

Some one must make a remote incendiary device? Detonate it while the scroats are riding the thing, BOOM! :bomb:

I read of a fellow that attached a blasting cap to his car stereo after 4 previous thefts. The thief is now known as lefty, lol.
