Just come back from a test ride on the new 2023 Street Triple RS, what an amazing bike. The throttle, quick shifter and slipper were sublime, probably the nicest I've ever used on a bike. The brakes are just out of this world, never had brakes as good, suspension was much plusher than I thought it was going to be and handled the country roads very well indeed. The handling of the bike is again out of this world, you just point or show it a corner and it tracks beautifully. And finally even the seating and riding position was better than I was expecting, the seat was quite comfortable as well, yes sure it won't be a touring bike but it could easily handle a 2 hour blast or a all day ride to the Lakes or elsewhere. Now decision time is what to do, my Kawasaki Z900RS SE doesn't make me smile as much as the Triumph did today.
There's your answer, mine still makes me smile every time I ride it. Unless you are buying a bike for a very specific purpose such as commuting economy I think they're a "heart" decision......
There's no real reason why a motorcycle shouldn't be a head and/or heart decision. However, it's the one(s) that speak to your very soul; the one(s) that stir your emotions when you lift the cover or squeeze the starter button; the one(s) that get that last, lingering look before you shut the garage door that are the most rewarding in terms of long term ownership pleasure. Buy the Street Triple - you KNOW it makes sense.
I bought my Street Triple after just sitting on it in the showroom, no test ride. It does everything it says on the tin, and some more. However, my 22 year old Ducati still has number one spot in my heart.
I'm adamant, and have been for a long time, that the street triple is the best bike Triumph make! Its sublime, Ive had 3 of them.
I think you’ve just answered your own question, I’ve got the new Street Triple R, you won’t regret it
What colour did you go for, I like the Red but the more I see the Yellow I’m thinking that could be the one to get.
I went for crystal white, the red & yellow isn’t an option for R version. I’ve seen both the yellow & red up close the yellow really pops for me
Well still not sure what'll do, I initially put a deposit down on a Red RS, but ten I saw a nice second hand bike for sale what had some nice extras for cheaper than a new one. Spent the last few days dealing with the guy and he messaged me saying his buyer had pulled out so I could have it, then started to sort out trains, insurance etc for the next day to collect only for him to message me saying he's selling it to his dealer for less money and the dealer will stick it back up for more, honestly I give up sometimes. Back to the drawing board, do I just take the new Red RS for probably this week or keep scouring the second hand market for another yellow with extras at a good price?
Are you being asked to pay list price for the new one? When I bought my R in late 21 I had found a dealer elsewhere that was selling one at 10% off list. My local dealer took one look at my phone and agreed to match it. The machine was in the showroom and I took delivery a week later. So they would appear to have more wiggle room than they let on
There's no discounts on new ones, they can't get any into the dealerships, I've rang loads and some are even saying net year now.
