    Hello All,

I am the lucky owner of a beautiful new Tiger 800 XRx. Took delivery of it a couple of days ago and rode it on a 200 km drive yesterday

The bike felt like it just could not exceed 110 kmph in 6th Gear. This was at about 4500 rpm, and to be very honest, I wasn't going higher because I have been asked to break in the bike gently. At 4500 the bike was really screaming, but it was also absolutely stable and beautiful

However, it did seem like it was resisting going faster.

I spoke to the dealer, who was very patient with my concern, and then asked me to relax and allow the engine to open up before I got paranoid. He assured me that some of the initial sluggishness/feeling of resistance will wear off after the first 500 km, and then the real difference would be after the first oil change and service

People, am I being paranoid? Any thoughts? Ideas?

    Regards

    Rahul

I would ride her as directed and have your first service, mention the issue again so there is a record of it, engines do need to loosen up a bit and this can take a few miles. They are great bikes though!!
    And welcome in.

Totally agree with crispy. When I had my explorer brand new - although a superb bike - it seemed to radically transform after it's first service. Ride as instructed and as said - report any concerns.

    Hello R,

That doesn't sound right. My XRx was run in according to the guidelines - revs and mileage as specified but it always wanted to go and never felt like it wouldn't. 110km or 68 mph should not feel like a struggle.

    Hi Steve,

    Thanks for your reply!

I am wondering whether it is my paranoia because the bike was doing a 110 on its first ride out, and that too at only 4800 rpm! I'm hoping once I open her up, the hesitation will pass

I'll ride her out a few days, try and get to the 500 mark, and then send her in for an early service with a request to remap the bike and change the oil

I'll update again as I ride her out a few days again

    Thanks

Welcome Rahul. XRx's can be restricted for the A2 licence in the UK. If the first service doesn't sort it out ask your dealer to check it has been mapped correctly.
