I have been looking at sales listings for Triumph Sports Tourers here in Bulgaria and have to admit to never having bike with any sort of fairing on it before but have to admit that the Triumph Trophy, Sprint and even the TT600 do look rather good. My current ride is a 2002 Ducati Monster 620ie the was what I chose for my re-introduction to biking again and I have done a bit over 3,000 miles on it and have found it not to be comfortable for more than shortish rides so it will be listed for sale soon.

Now I have always had a soft spot for Triumphs though the ones I had in the past were Meriden products I did however briefly consider a 900 Trophy before deciding on the Monster though I never went to look at the Trophy wanting a lighter bike to get back into it no longer being a spring chicken.

So there are 7 listings that are within my budget, the number of Triumphs on offer is less than if we were considering a Ducati again, they range from 1997 Trophy 900 and 1200 to 2005 Sprint ST 955i and 1050 what I do not know is if there are years that are better to avoid for any reason. Mileages range from 39,000km to 92,000km and most of them have the full 3 set of luggage with them. The other issue is distance to view and test ride for most of them but there are a couple that are within a hours drive one is a Green 1997 Trophy 1200 with 92,000km the other is a Blue 2001 Sprint ST 955i with 54.000km this blue one does look nice it.s come in from Switzerland.there is a Burgandy 2005 Sprint ST1050 with 89.000km on it but that is a good hour drive to look at it and then we have allow time for the notary transfer and to get a translator (required by law) so might need and overnight stay for me if I bought this one.

    Any advice is appreciated.

@Plezier Really something you have to decide yourself. How much you want a Triumph. I found the Sprints a good long distance bike and easy to ride. You could ask the sellers to meet half way and if they want to sell then this is a little ask.

Sadly your idea is not possible here unless it's a dealer private sales have to go through a notary who take the registration documents and send them to KAT (traffic police who handle registrations) dealers can give an invoice that allow purcahser to take it to the KAT office in the area you live in with the bike to register it there if it's in your region if away then you can get Transit plates that are valid for a month to allow you to drive it home then to the local KAT office within the month insurance is handled in this case on the chassis/frame number and once registered the insurance is changed to show the registration number. Bikes are excempt from needing vignette and only require testing (Preglet) every two years and not annually like cars.

The buyer is responsible for the translator and notary fees as well as the registration fee. Another difference here is that there is nowhereto buy registration plates they are issued by KAT so they are all the same size none of this having a small plate on your bike mirrors are also required by law as are indicators though there are excemptions for vintage bikes I believe.

My Ducati had been de-registered by previous owner to avoid the annual taxes luckily for me he had a van and delivered it to me I then had to hire a van once I sorted the bike out to take it to the technical test and then the normal registration which were done at two different places in the city due to them being busy I was allowed to drill the plate and fit it at home and of course it was in a van not being ridden with no plate.

The system here is nothing like the UK!
