Evening all, looking at putting some new cans onto my 2016 Speed Triple R. What's the general consensus? Want something different so Arrows are out of the equation, looking at Akrapovics but they're a bit pricey, need helppppppppp.
I'm getting the scorpion low level can to get that weight down low and at £379 I didn't think it was too bad a price. Black widow would be a choice but they are gonna be another 6-8 weeks with a low level can. See if they do the high level cans cause I'm sure they would be the right price.
Thanks for that, I'm after a high level rather than the low version. Quite like the scorpion but have also looked at a few makes that I've never heard of. Wondered whether anyone had any experience of the smaller companies.
Hi Rubberhamster I've got the 2016+ S3R and went for the SC Projects carbon cans and I'm not disappointed. They look and sound great, much smaller and lighter than the stockers and all for £600 direct from the factory in Italy. The manufacturer says there's no need to remap with these but I put the Arrows map on to be on the safe side. Gled.
Excellent , I was looking at those as they seemed to have good reviews and were about the mark that I wanted to pay. My only concern was that there wasn't a UK distributor but the vid made my mind up (I think)
I ordered directly from the manufacturer's website. Took about 2 weeks to arrive. http://www.sc-project.com/triumph_speed_triple_2016_e.htm Gled.
that seems great but do you also have to buy the link pipe shown in pic as that adds another nearly £200 to price for system.
AndyC It's a good find that. I may have been tempted at that price if I hadn't already bought the SCs. Gled.
Well I've only gone and done it, completely ignored everyone's advise (including my own) and ordered a pair of Akrapovics. Next job is to take delivery and fit them before my wife gets home Thanks again for all the replies and if anyone wants any info on them give me a shout. Got a pretty sweet deal with 0% finance.
My bike is a 2016 and according to the website, Performance Parts Ltd, they fit the following. This fits: Triumph Speed Triple 1050, from 2011 onwards Triumph Speed Triple 1050R, from 2011 onwards Triumph Speed Triple 1050S, from 2016 onwards Hope that helps
Settled into my garage routine of pizza and beer and spent the next four hours fitting the system. I'm not the most mechanically minded person out there but feel I can do most jobs when I put my mind to it. The cans, link pipes and brackets were all pretty easy to fit, the time was sucked up with removing & replacing plastic, and messing around with nuts that really didn't want to go in the places they were supposed to. I cannot say enough about the quality of the Akrapovic system, the cans, brackets, springs and even the tube of copper grease were all top notch. Clear and precise instruction and packaging that I'm now forwarding to The Tower of London for the Crown Jewels. Baffles are out and after taking it for a spin this afternoon I'm very impressed with the sweet tones coming from the system, not too in your face but enough to put a smile on yours and a few gentlemen when I pulled in for petrol. Will post a few pictures tomorrow after a ride out to Cadwell. Will definitely use Performance Parts again, fantastic price and service.
They sound great sufficiently louder than the stock without being as mad as the Werx single cans I have had, just loud enough on tick over, and a nice growl when accelerating and a lot more popping on deceleration. Not sure if there is any significant gain in power but pulls nicely in all gears with no nasty surprises throughout the rev range. Really pleased with quality fit and looks. Now to sort out the tail tidy and a single light unit for the brake and indicators.
Hopefully I won't be waking up the dead with these. Need some time on the dyno to see what it's actually putting out. Had my previous one re mapped and it was far better than the stock map, but this seems spot on although it's early doors and haven't tested every rider mode yet but all good in the Sports and rider mode where I have traction turned off.
No I haven't used hilltop. Used to have a great local dyno but they are now defunct, Have a chat and get some prices from T3 and BSD, I have had work done by both of them on Triumphs and my Kawasaki ZZR1400 was mad enough for power but felt awful at low revs and in town, well sorted after a remap and dyno runs. If your bike is still in warranty a remap will most likely invalidate it. https://www.t3-racing.co.uk/pages/motorbike-engine-tuning-dyno-testing-fuel-map http://bsd.uk.com/
