Fuel indicator light failed Ran out of petrol and not sure where the next station is So start pushing . . . . but then I turn up (linky)
Well done. What I would like to know is where did you get the siphoning kit from? Could be a handy thing to have, just in case.
In my bag, I have... - Fuel siphon kit - Seach Amazon Fuel Hand Pump - about £10 - used twice on other bikers - Puncture repair kit- ebay link £35 (plus spare air canisters) - used 3 times on other bikers - Helmet cleaning kit - micro fibre cloths, cleaner, rain-x and anti fog - Multi tool - for the stuff the tool kit doesn't cover - Zip ties - various sizes - 3" LED flashy warning triangle - Mars bars - for the long wait I have pretty much used it all, most of the time for other bikers, the puncture repair kit is intended very temporarily until a permenant fix can be done, but I have used rubber glue to help secure the plug and ridden 700 miles on it. Never accepted money for fuel or fixing tyres, only a handshake and a grateful grin.
Don't want to tempt fate, but you have just reminded me to buy a puncture repair kit for when i go to Germany
Can I resist it ........... No It should do its a video sorry Biglad couldn't resist. I'm just too weak willed that way.
I'm afraid I would have offered you at least £20 for that. I strongly believe that one good turn deserves another and as I'm not religious I don't believe in getting your reward in heaven.
Cheers Andy, The cost to me was no more the £3 or maybe £5 of fuel tops...it was premium unleaded (I run 1 tank in 5 with premium to keep the bits clean) plus a 20min detour. The cost is negligable and I genuinly think the handshake and gratitude of who I have helped is enough, like you, I don't think my good or bad deeds are being chalked up on the heaven board. But, just maybe, it is me that needs help and one of the people I have helped comes along and that uses the same commute and they are in the frame of mind to help. Two weeks before in exactly the same stretch of road I helped a Ducati Monster rider (Andy) that had also run dry. It was his first big bike after passing his full licence a month before and he had just had it serviced, unfortunately the garage didn't check the fuel light and he ran out. 10 mins later and he is back on the road on his way to his first day at a new job only being a bit late rather than not turning up at all. He has now offered me free perks if I stay at the St Pancras Hotel where he works.
It's what bikers tend to do is help each other. Thanks to you posting the link I can now help by doing that. In the past I got them to jump on mine and took them to a petrol station so that they could buy a galleon in a fuel canister. This will be much easier as long as I'm not getting too low of course
Im going to buy you a Cape, Just dont start wearing your undies on the outside. Fair play yet again. Could do with a few more like yourself.
Another one this morning!! Same stretch of road and there is a scooter parked up, no-one there so I drive on by, then as I am overtaking a lorry I just see the rider walking along the road...too late for me to stop and help unfortunately, if only he was with his bike... So strange how riders are running out of petrol Thanks for all your kind words guys Wayne, if I was to wear a cape with my spotted Y-fronts on the outside, what woudld I be called... 'Soap-on-a-rope guy'....in there before you HT
Just received the fuel siphon from Amazon, surprised at how quick I got it. So it'll go in the top box just in case
