My relationship with my thunderbird is blossoming, as I'm putting her back together I was thinking , maybe it's time to stop just calling her " Me Bird" although it was fun say to me mates, sorry lads .. I'm going out with "me bird" tonight. Anyway, I have decided to call her Penelope. I put a lot of thought into this and it got me wondering do other lad/ lasses have names for there bikes ..... Or are they just, my bike or her? Why Penelope? A few reasons, I always thought Penelope off of Thunderbirds was I bit of hot totty, what. Yes I know she's a bloody puppet but I was young. Anyway she was a Thunderbird ( in more ways than one) also "my bird" is a bit posher now, so it only seemed right to give her a posher name. And finally I can for fill my childhood dream by riding Penelope "Ma lady" all I have to do now is find somewhere to " Parker !!!
The Bonneville was called "Hugh" for obvious reasons. The Trident was harder but the girlie named him "Guy" - because the fork seals went and had to be replaced as the first job, so Guy Forks (Fawkes). I know, but it stuck. Resisting the temptation to call the Royal Enfield "Harry".
I think thats a must, It just goes to show not all bikes are girls. But then again they are more like girls. Once you get them started they Roar..
My bonneville is called chloe.... The last part of the reg I'd clo and all my bikes have had girls names....
My girl is called...........................Bonny.................yes I know it's not clever or anything but it reminds me of happy days in Scotland where all the girls are bonny.
My T-Bird Storm is called Kate Bush. It seemed like a good idea at the time and now the name has stuck
Eye big laddie, there's been many a tail aboot a bonny lassie around Scotland. Just did nah noo it's waas ya bike!!
I've always named my motorbikes , I suppose it's easier when your chatting to them in the garage to give them names , otherwise I'd just be saying " hi bike , hows it goin , where shall we go today etc etc " Anyway mine's called Trudy lol & I'm not mad , just a bit lonely
OK I didn't really have a Nancy Girlie name for mine as I didn't think she was a girly type bike and I didn't really want to say I had been riding Eric all afternoon, well not in public anyway! But I have found her a name... "Doris!" Doris strikes me as a full bodied kind of lass with a bit of meat on her thighs, a Sarf London facelift and she aint gonna take no s*^t from no-one but she also takes a long time to get ready to go out!
I never had a plan with mine, but my 3 year old daughter has always called it "The Bee Bike" owing to the colour scheme, so I guess it's going to stick! Should really turn it into an actual name and therefore spell it Bea I guess.
