Breathability, elasticity and good temperature regulation are good qualities in underpants too.

 

I totally agree with you in the case of dry summer temperatures. In wet and cold situations I prefer modern XXX-Tex Shoes. In warm weather they are not comfortable.

 

Hi @Stephen Peter not sure if you are asking for riding or casual wear?
If it’s for riding I wear good quality boots (gortex for waterproofing) most of the year round. For casual wear it can be trainers, flip flops or any kind of shoes (leather or other materials).

 

On a more serious note, I only ever wear Alpinstars race boots come rain or shine, they offer superb comfort and have all the protection you need should anything happen.

I had a pair of Gearne race boots back in the late 80's/90's which lasted years and were excellent quality. When I wanted to replace them, Alpine Stars were the only ones that came anywhere near. I still use a pair of Thor Quadrant enduro boots I bought in 2011 and they're still going strong. They have taken some real abuse.

 

On an old bike brake shoes are very good for keeping you healthy.

No, they’re made by Meindl who are walking boot makers. Comfortable out the box. Fairly heavy compared to normal walking boots though.
