I need some help on a helmet cam . I have a different thread on "Who is to blame " basically I got knock of my bike and I am having a lot of hassle proving who is to blame . One person on the thread said if I had a helmet cam at the time of the accident a lot of the hassle would of been avoided .GOOD POINT .So I know it is closing the stable door after the horse has bolted .I am defiantly going to buy one but I have no idea on how they are fitted and which one to buy .So I need some help .First ,what are they like to fit ,are they straight forward or will it be better for a moron like me to have it fitted at my local dealer by someone who knows what they are doing .Second ,Which is the best helmet cam to buy .I would rather have pay a bit more and have a good one then buy a cheap one that is not that good .Be grateful of any help on this matter

I have the Drift Ghost S which is no longer available..i think the X model is a cheaper model, but it seems to get great reviews and the battery seems to last longer than any of the competition. it's the same shape as the S model which I think looks better fitted to a crash helmet than a lot of the square looking cameras

I also have a Drift S, and it's very good. I'm pleased with it.

Sorry for being so dump but I have never used a helmet cam or know anyone that has one .I take it to see the replay of your journey .Can you rewind the cam and watch it or do you have to download the sim card ?

The Ghost x has no review screen so you have to download the footage from the memory card to watch it. Not sure about other models or makes.

@Chris Wise I couldn't help but notice you didn't say anything about the one Dozer posted. Looks like a good item. I wish it posted to the states actually.

I have just look at Dozer ,the price is cheap but again it has a usb charging lead but with the cheap price I could buy what ever you need to charge the battery from the mains ,

It's not hard to rig up a USB charger. :)

Can those of you using the Ghost X tell me whether you've had any issues with rain/lack of WR? There's an app for viewing a live feed and adjusting general settings, isn't there?

Also, is the audio usable without attaching an external mic?

I have a crosstour that comes with loads of fitting clamps, I've attached mine to the indicator stem and its helped me report 3 drivers since fitting. Battery life is crap though and wont last more than an hour on minimum resolution, its in the attached photo if you zoom in, less visible than fitting to handlebars or helmet.

They're not warranted as waterproof so if you ride in the rain with one you'll need to buy the waterproof cover.

I've downloaded the app and it is very clear when in live view - useful for setting up the angles. Trying to view the files via the app is a bit flaky though and it was much easier to see things on the home machine to which we have a cable permanently attached for camera downloads anyway.

From testing Lady Poppy's Ghost X the internal mic pics up voice when close by pretty well but I've only today picked up the RAM mount for it (B-347 to which I'll attach the included flat mount for easy fit/release) so will try it outside later or tomorrow. She has decided on handlebar mount rather than have it stuck over her head.

For exactly the same reason, I bought a motorbike dash-cam from Amazon for about £35. It reckons it is HD front cam and 720p back. The unit has a very small screen, but downloads to an SD card at certain time intervals. It was worth a punt, so I'll report back when I've used it a bit.

Hi - have a look at this one, it’s a ‘dash cam for bikes’ rather than a helmet cam
