So, as I said when I jumped in on @Vulpes thread, Mrs HV has decided she finally wants to take her test. Unfortunately because of the whole Covid situation CBT's and Direct Access courses are few and far between at the moment but we think that one could be sorted, awaiting a confirmation call today The expensive bit though is the fact that no schools are lending kit right now.......yes we all know where this one is going .......so we have been trawling bike stores and t'interweb to get fully kitted out. She is an ex nurse who has worked on both trauma wards and in A&E so is only happy to do it with all the correct gear (quite rightly in my opinion) and I am firmly of the opinion "buy right, buy once". To that end we now have a new helmet, jacket, jeans, boots and gloves before she's even sat on a bike Once she's done the CBT and full course she's already identified which bike she wants........a Triumph Street Triple R Low
Our schools do have kit on loan, but we decided to do it right straight away - so all new gear for the mrs.... on top of that the bike, sat nav, comm system... so yes, an expensive decision... And the lessons, tests.... we're having a cheap holiday this year, methinks...
Glad to hear she's working towards her license. And I very much approve of her choice of bike. Good luck to you both.
My rationalization when I buy motorcycles and motorcycle "stuff" is this. "Well, at least I don't own airplanes or boats!"
To appropriate a saying often used by an American friend ... "If it flies; floats or f***s ....... it's cheaper to rent!"
Street Triple R Low.......I get to ride it home when it's ready might be a little bit of a challenge at 6'1"
A bit different to the Nightstorm but I am looking to get another V twin Tuono as a stable mate so will need to practice
Realise I haven't updated this for a while. CBT passed but still no sign of a Direct Access course so rather than do nothing we managed to find a cheap YBR to at least get out on the road in the meantime. It's not pretty and been a little unloved but a full years MOT and an hour cleaning off the chain crud later and it's ready for the road. First ride out yesterday, 70 miles and only a few minors good to get out and enjoy the ride, girl done very good
