As some of you may know I've been trying to help my sister as she's been going through a challenging time after being operated on for a brain tumeur last August. We decided that it would be in her best interests to to love much closer to us (was 400kms south), so she can be supported emotionally and physically. So we found her a place about 500 mtrs from our place. This weekend has been the big move. Left home friday morning, drove the five and a half hours down to her place (in blinding storms) picking up her son who had flown in, on the down . Arrived, had a cup and of tea and started loading. Then had a rather liquid evening where the family caught up. The following morning finished loading, said goodbye to the old place, drove the six hours north and arrived at her new home. Unloaded the truck, went to the pub and celebrated. Consequently this morning (sunday) I am completely and utterly BOLLOXED. Lovely sunny day here so that's nice. Job Done.
Sounds like that was a demanding couple of days Dave. Moving house is soooo stressful, only moved house twice in 46 years of marriage and I remember both occasions well Hope your sister enjoys her new home and it helps with her recovery.
Hi mate Hope you're sisters recovery goes well I'm sure it will with your love and support and that of the family You're a good man mate enjoy your well earned rest
Sounds like just the tonic. Here's to your sister's recovery ( and a fair few more liquid evenings on the way ).
You are definitely not wrong there mate. Not sure I'll have time today tbh, but it'll happen VERY soon.
Hi biglad what a great example of family support. As many have said take a long rest and enjoy having your sister close by. Wessa
Your sister (and you) will feel much better knowing her big bro is close by and looking out for her I'm sure it will help with her recovery
Hope your sister recovers well. I'm sure you will both feel happier being close to each other rather than separated by such a distance. Have a rest today
You guys are the best. Thanks very much. We are all at my place right now, about to have a late lunch and celebrate the move.
It gets easier the more times you move, trust me! (After number 15 in 40 yrs!) Chasing/following work around, We've moved more times than service personnel! Retired now, so no more, you still have my sympathy though Dave.
Dave - I hope your sister feels better having moved closer to you. Having family close by is very important and I hope she is recovering well. I do have an inkling of how you are feeling as my partner is still not out of the woods yet after a secondary kidney cancer removal operation last Friday. Keep hopeful, keep optimistic. All my best wishes.
Hi TC, thank you very much for your kind words and understanding. We are certainly not out of the woods, but this weekend - albeit very tiring - has seen joy, hope and happiness on Sis's face that has been missing for over a year, so I'm very grateful. Feeling like you can share important stuff on this forum and being treated with such thoughtfulness is a great example of why it's such a great place to be. Thank you all so much.
