I want to buy some waterproof clothing to take on the NC 500 this year, but I'd like some advice before I buy any, I can't really rely on the comments about the items on Amazon, as I think most of them are just fake, is it worth the extra money to buy Goretex, or are there any decent alternatives. I thought it best to ask you lot as you have probably tried them all.

    Cheers Ade,
I think I'll go for the Goretex, like the old saying, you get's what you pay for, I have a Rocket trike, so weight and space shouldn't be a problem. I just bought a Givi 60 litre bag to fasten on the back seat.

I agree with Ade, you cannot get better than Rukka. When I bought mine the sales guy said once you have worn this stuff you will never want anything else; he was right.

Three layer Goretex every time if you can afford it. Keep the receipt because you get a lifetime guarantee.

Goretex is a great choice. But if you go the some like J & S you can get great deals just haggle. I don't wear it myself as I find most good all weather gear suffices and is tested to very similar standards.

I have only one piece of Goretex kit (well known brand) and it is the only piece that has ever let water in. Love my RST Pro jacket which is good value for money and kept me totally dry in thousands of miles of rain. Rukka and other stuff is absolute top quality of course but sometimes good is good enough.
