I am looking for a new backpack for the daily commute, because between my gym gear and my lunch, my current 15 litre Riut (https://www.riut.co.uk/collections/all-products/products/riutbag-r15-3) is just a little too small, but a great backpack. I was thinking about getting the 25 litre version, but at £150 plus £12 for the waist-strap, it's a bit much. I've also had a look at the Kriega R30, which looks great, but it's even more expensive. So does anyone have any waterproof* backpack recommendations, 25-30 litres, for < £100? * The bag itself has to be waterproof, not just some waterproof cover as I don't want to have to be taking it on and off all the time. That's the good thing about the Riut, and the thing that makes me think I should just splash the cash on the bigger version.
My guess is that you'll be lucky to find a truly waterproof one for under £100. Kriega stuff is expensive (I only have a 10 litre tail bag) but you get what you pay for as they say.
Forgot about Lomo! I have a 30 ltr Lomo holdall and that is definitely waterproof. (tested on the back of a Bonneville in 2015). Luckily seems I was wrong about the price for once!
Don’t go for motorcycle one have a look at the overboard website, I’ve had one of their rucksacks for 5 years now
Had a lomo motorcycle daysack for quite a few years that I sometimes strap to the pillion seat when there’s not enough room in my top box. Excellent quality and price. As your in Glasgow give them a call to see if you can pop round to feel the quality
This also looks quite good, a bit pricier than the Lomo ones, but still well under £100. https://www.over-board.co.uk/pro-vis-waterproof-backpack-30-litres.html
Decided to head out at lunchtime to have a look at the Lomo bag. Pretty decent. Good size, comfortable, not too much of a faff to get in and out of. I bought one. Can't really argue at £30. There was also a 40l one aimed at hikers that I might go for as well. Same price too. Good shout.
Last weekend to Lyon I used my Duffel bag from the North Face. It's not completely waterproof, I can tell from experience. It works perfectly during the ride when you have an hour of heavy rainfall. But a night ouside (still on the bike) that was not a good idea. At the seams, the rain seeped through anyway. I will use it for now, but when something better comes along....
That's my AlterEgo, Abigail in Dutch is pronounced differently. And my name is Abi or Aab for short (for family and good friends ). But in Dutch Aab means Monkey. But I'll give the little monkey a diaper and a helmet. Maybe she feels better than.
You can spend a fortune on waterproof bags, but heavy duty plastic rubble bags and tape from a D.I.Y store works for me,
I am a woman, and like to present me and my motorcycle in a more charming way... Men are so practical
Then put your gear in a rubble bag and put the rubble bag in the charming bag, gear dry, charming bag wet, problem solved.
REALLY USEFUL WHEN SOMEONE CUTS YOU UP OR ANNOYS YOU, ITS ROAD RAGE MADE EASIER PRESS A BUTTON, THEN THIS DAFT BUGGAR POPS UP
