There you go - both wheels on the floor on a gentle Sunday afternoon ride...

    Hello all,

Newbie here, just brought my first big bike, a 2011 Triumph Street triple R.

I wish I’d of known about people doing inspections for other members a few weeks ago, that would of been awesome, and very kind.

The bike was too far away for me to view so went off pictures, videos and the history. It looked to be all good and he seemed like an honest bloke, it had full Triumph service and MOT history, more than enough stamps, and his garage looked top notch, fully carpeted and heated etc, with quality tools visible in the background.

I’d been looking for quite a while and it seemed like a good deal, so I took the plunge and brought it without seeing it.

When it arrived I wasn’t over the moon, doesn’t look like its been treated well, alot of paint flaking off the engine behind the radiator, very rusty exhaust manifold bolts and pins.

Definateley needs a clean, for all I know it could be fine mechanically but just doesn’t look like its been cared for.

Needs new tyres for sure which he said were fine.

If I posted a load of pics and videos would you guys give your opinions on it?

I’ll make a new thread for this, which section should I put it in?

    Cheers folks

    Hi Dom, and welcome in.

Go to your model specific are to ask questions / get opinions. LINK

If you want, go to newbie section and intro yourself as well, but save the question for the ST section, you'll get better responses than asking in newbie section (as lots do )

Hi welcome Dom, that's a real shame ! Heart breaking when you get ripped off on an emotional purchase. As you say its probably cosmetic, may be the PO used it all year and considered it to be in good condition for a year round bike. At least you have lots of knowledge and support on here from now forward..

    Cheers folks,

I may be over reacting, not even had chance to go over the bike in daylight yet because of work, I'll get her out at the weekend, give it a good scrub and see what I have to work with. I went over it with a torch as best I could at the time, at least it doesn't look like its been dropped or crashed.

Will post a new thread with pics etc at the weekend.

    Nice one ;)

It'll get you started, you can tidy it up as you go along. I bought a brand new bike as my first big bike. Wish I'd bought older and learnt how to do stuff quicker.

Any help needed, just ask. Someone will know how.

Once your out riding for the first time, you'll forget all about minor blemishes and rusty bits. First big bike you fall in love very quickly, faults and all.

I'm certainly no mechanic, but I'm learning my way around and am happy to be added to the list. What do I need to do or let you know!?

    I'm based in Oxford.

I know mate. I did it in the normal way but it won't pop up as a link?
    Maybe he's left the forum?

My mistake. There's no gap between om & 15. The link now works Tez.

Can I recruit anyone from the Bedfordshire area? Barton-le-Clay specifically??? There’s a sweet looking sprint st I would like checking out, and being from the lakes, it’s a long haul!

More than happy to repay the favour to the forum!
