Good evening all, my underseat usb port has failed on my Street Twin and I have established that the fault is the short length of cable between the socket and where is plugs in about 10 inches down stream. Before I spend out on a new one from Triumph, has anyone fitted a more robust option to the plastic socket?

I fitted one onto the handlebars, so with a quadlock and short lead all good.
It seems a strange idea to me having it under the seat.

I've had the same issue as Sam Wells and I know another owner who also had the underseat USB fail. So Eldon, which one have you fitted?
I'll also be asking a similar question elsewhere.

I just had the OEM cockpit USB fitted when I bought the bike. It’s perfect, and having spent £14k on the bike I was hardly going to skimp on another 30!

I just used a cheap handlebar mounted ebay one for about £12 IIRC.
I previously used a fly lead I had installed under the seat on a Honda. A few days into one Outer Hebrides trip saw me get off at a petrol station and absent mindedly rag the cable as my phone was in my pocket. Luckily the phone charging port wasn't damaged, just the lead was no longer any use.

Handlebar mounted is the way to go and hard wire it direct to the battery with an inline 3A fuse.

No, sorry - I’m in hospital right now having just had major surgery. Just buy it & have it fitted, it’s chump change.

You've talked me into it, I'll do it at the next service. Get well soon (grapes and Lucozade in the post ;)).
