    Hi All,

    New member here,
Currently own a Sprint ST 2008 for the past 12 years, tried loads of bikes but always keep the sprint.

Its time to now move on so obvious choice was either a Tiger 1050 or the Speed 1050. (as I love the engine).

Any particular model years to go for and any issues to look out for?

    Cheers

Either of your choices are great bikes. The 12,000 mile service is a big and very expensive service, and is then every 12k after that. So if you are looking for a bike and it is close to the 12k or 24k service it going to cost you very quickly. Of course if you are handy on the spanner’s this is a problem you don’t have to worry about.

I have had both bikes. The Tiger was superb but I found it a tad top heavy and had dreadful wind noise despite trying every screen option available. Im 6'. 1050 Speedie fabulous bike, less wind noise then the Tiger. Loved both. Now have a 1200 Speedie RS which imho knocks the absolute stuffing out of both. Seriously try them all. The 1200 will beat the other two hands down. It looks like you keep your bikes a while so the 1200 will be the best investment....ever. I dont like changing bikes, had my T140 for 23years now. That said selling the Black 1200RS I've had 2 years but only to replace it with an Orange one! Also I am extremely bias...I love the 1200 Speedie.

I had a 2005 1050 Speed Triple and a 2007 1050 Tiger at the same time and both were great bikes. The Tiger was good for touring with it's panniers and bigger tank and fuel range but was a bit tall for me even though I am 6'. Overall I just love Speed Triples and currently own a 2019 1050 RS which I am more than happy with. If I wasn't so old I would definitely be in the market for a 1200 Speed Triple RS.
