Had to get away from the house, so decided on the spur of the moment to ride to La Rochelle in France. Two full riding days (1000kms all together). The weather is blue sky and 30 degrees. I just hit one big rain storm on the way down in Belgium but apart from that its been warm and dry. The VStrom 650 is absolutely fantastic. Smooth fueling, no jerkiness like on the ride by wire T120, its economical, handles great even with a very heavy topbox has a big tank so you get a good range. It really is an underrated bike. And even better for me I can move it around unlike the Scania Truck (my Triumph Trophy SE) BC
Actually Ade I'm so unhappy here on my own, I'm heading home tomorrow. I thought this would help me to get over the loss and funeral but it's actually made me feel worse. I don't know how people can do holidays on their own. BC
We'll after riding the VStrom I notice it more on the Bonnie. The mechanic at the garage said that's what they're like and it's cause of the ride by wire throttle. Give me the VStroms Cable throttle any day if the week
So, I’m home now. 2000kms covered. The Strom behaved impeccably although after 5 hours plus riding days my bottom is a bit sore which is the max I can ride with the low seat. Might try the standard seat again over the next few days. Not really the trip I was hoping for, but at least I did try. Looking forward to some good company in a few short weeks time. BC
