Has anyone used tyre sealer for tubed tyres? recently had a rear tyre flat and had to call the breakdown service to get home, anyone had experience whith this stuff. Geoff
Hi GPT, inner tubes and this 'slime' or 'Gloop' does work OK so long as it's just a nail. The trouble with tubes is that they tend to twist and rip if you keep running, on the flat tyre. Once that happens, well you're buggered and it's new tube time.
I use Slime in mine. I don't kid myself it will stop a big tear but back in my green laning days it kept me going when thorns were a constant risk. For road use I like to think it will slow the deflation speed....having once **** myself in the outside lane of the A1!
I have used it as a hope that it may slow a puncture from sudden deflation but never after one, a proper patch applied or better still a new tube over false economy, you only have 1 life!
I have always used Ultraseal in my tubeless tyres so was a little hesitant in getting a bike with tubes. After looking again at Ultraseal info, and talking to my dealer, Ultraseal can be used successfully in tubed tyres, albeit not as successfully as tubeless. I had my dealer treat my T120 tyres and so far so good. On this subject I am happy to go "Belt & Braces" for the sake of £25. I emphasise the product Ultraseal, not any cheap "slime"
