Anybody bought/thinking of buying/fitted one of the TTS Supercharger kits to their Thruxton yet?

......I thought one of the 'young blades' on here would have had a rush of blood to their wallets and adrenal glans by now and be out 'Busa bashin' by now!.......

Indeed, the price is a bit salty but it does look like a very classic and cool way of going very fast and it looks a whole lot more handsome than a Diaval to me......

    Cheers,

It's about £3600 isn't it? That seems an absolute bargain to me !!!! Something like starting off with 100bhp and transforming into 236bhp !!!!!

Hi t'biglad, that's the price I read for just buying the kit........and then installing it yourself!......probably another £1,500 at least to have it installed.....

......but if those 6 numbers come up this w/e......

    Cheers,

Don't forget to add another large lump sum for beefing up the engine components and clutch to take the power..... :)

Hi tcbandituk,.....the article I read said clutch/gearbox/engine was capable to handle the increase unless exceeding 140hp.

The compression ratio was lowered by fitting the new T120 head, but even with the standard Thruxton head engine was OK if boost pressure was kept at a reasonable level, around 0.8 of an atmosphere.

But even if it did not go bang, I'd guess life expectancy of the mechanicals has got to be reduced.

    Cheers,

Hi Midas,......that's great news, please let us know just how brilliant it is......the things so torquey now, I can only lust about what it'll be like with the blower fitted......plus lots of pictures please....

.....and as for being one of the oldest......all that's about to change......doesn't Einsteins theory of relativity say that the faster you go the slower you age?.......so as we daudle along at subsonic speed aging quickly you'll be getting younger compared to the rest of us!!!....

I wish....no lottery winner here, I've had a meeting at the cross-roads and sold my soul to get this supercharger.
No more to say yet...I'll let you know the ins and outs when its done.

    Sneak preview....

Worst case scenario, I'll just post a picture of the motor blown to bits and a picture of me sitting in a pool of my own tears..:)

That looks pretty awesome to me. I sold my soul to get the R and it is taking me another 4 years and 8 months to get it back again. But, in 2021 I'm sure I'd be prepared to sell it all over again and at that point it might be just the right time to give the R a lift,.....

Unless, of course, those 6 numbers come home. In that case I'd order it the very next day.

Stunning commitment to power extraction Midas! Can't wait to hear more news on the installation and how it rides. So tempted to do the same this summer.....

OK another update.....TTS have been dragging their feet with this.
Initially I let TTS have the bike so they could use it to have some header pipes made up by Scorpion Exhausts for the Supercharger kit they were doing which is a story in itself.
While it was there they offered to fit the kit for free as they needed a bike to do a tune on for the Power Commander to send out with the kit, so I reluctantly agreed as a big part of this for me was fitting the supercharger myself. But having said that I would have had to take the bike and have it mapped so it seemed the best thing for both TTS and me to let them fit it and map the bike down there...
On the two bikes they did for Triumph last year Triumph let them have access to the ECU to do the mapping but they would not give them the access to do it for the Supercharger kits so they have to use a PC-V.
So last week took a drive down there unannounced to see what was going on, the bike was sitting on the dyno with the supercharger installed and had been partially dynoed but he had come across a problem with the air pressure sensor triggering a fault code due to the difference in manifold air pressure produced by supercharger. To be honest I was a little pissed off as I had expected any issues like this would have been ironed out on the two bikes they did for Triumph...but their ya go!
While I was there he asked me if they could take the bike to the motorcycle show in London this weekend, I agreed to this as long as it was back with me at the end of next week...
So as it stands I am expecting the bike delivered back to me by Thursday evening of next week (23rd Feb)

Here are a couple of picures I took while I was there last week.....A couple of things have changed sinse then, the intercooler and pipework are black along with the outer supercharger belt cover

    hi Midas,

Many thanks for the update and photos.

How frustrating for you.....they pitch their adverts as if it's a done deal off the shelf product.....not a work in progress.....with you and your bike as their guinea pig.

Stick to you guns on delivery date back to you and ensure it is absolutely 'fit for purpose' on collection.....and in perfect condition with all its bits and pieces still in place following being an exhibit at the show......so many light fingered 'people' see the exhibits as an opportunity to replace or enhance bits on their own bikes for free.

If it ain't right don't take it from their premises or you'll be backwards and forwards at your time and expense to get it put right........but insist on appropriate compensation for their cock ups.......I speak from personal experience with this company from many years ago.

I do hope to hear again soon that everything has panned out brilliantly for you and that you are suffering nose bleeds from the excess, relentless acceleration!

    Cheers,

    dickydido

Well it looks like a funky piece of kit. You're on the cutting edge of development there and the issue is a sensor, surely they can sort that out.

Did you get a free ticket for the show? It'd be kind of cool to see your own bike on display.

    Good luck with it,
    Steve
