Hired a camper van for the weekend for a trip down to Dorset. As the girlie doesn't do long pillion rides, we have often travelled abroad with me on the bike and her in the car so thought would a camper van be a better option? This is the "try before you buy" weekend to see if it works for us so we might plan for a longer European trip next year.
Good luck with the try out weekend, hopefully you were shown how everything works when you picked it up? We love our camper, even though it was a rust bucket & cost us a fortune to put right!
Depending on your skills/time, you can save a butt tonne of cash and build your own conversion. Did it with two mates in the early 2000s and it got us round the festivals as well as beer tour of south spain
Oh well, there go the full english breakfast reports, he'll be donning his pinny and cooking his own now, expect to be stuck behind him on the NC500 next year
Don't blame you! Because of the racing I have a generator to use when we don't have pits with power (most of the time ), as you live close by, I was going to say you could borrow it for the weekend if you were going 'wild'. Our camper is going for MOT tomorrow, so after all the money we spent out on it over the winter I really do hope it passes . If you like it, & buy one, just be really careful of the chassis rot, mine was mint inside & not bad at all outside for an 18 year old vehicle, it had only done 34,000 miles but the rot had got in!
Can I ask cost of hire, what deposit and any limitations of use? Just as my wife is the same and won't go pillion for long.
Let’s start up a triumph owners camper van forum.uk, next years gmu could be interesting. Dilli could tow his behind his new rocket
We sold our motor home last year, we had been doing it for 26 years and decided it was time for a change, they are quite expensive to run if you have all the proper services done, mechanical and habitation, plus the tax and insurance, ours cost us around £1100 a year before it even turned a wheel, those factors plus the fact that you cannot make spontaneous trips anymore as we used to, convinced us to make a change. So we changed to this......
We use it for car shows and runs to the coast here in Norfolk, I I had a 5.7 litre 360 bhp V8 installed with a 4 speed auto box, power steering and disc brake conversions, makes me smile almost as much as my Triumph.
