Hi guys, Proud owner of a 2017 speed triple I recently bought second hand. Nice to see there is a community too! My bikes idle is terrible. I assumed al it needed was a tune, but thats not the case. I tried balancing (tune ECU) but I could not get it right: the screw of cil 1 full open, of 2 an 3 completely shut. and still cyl 1 waay too high in vacuum. I then saw that the routing of the rubber hoses did not make sense, I think someone before me screwed up. There are two sets coming from each throtlebody, I assume the MAP sensor gets signal from each trottlebody from the tube that is NOT near the set screws for balancing, but I don't know how the other set ( that supplies air to the idle setscrews) connects. Does any of you have a schematic? I looked at two OEM part sites but they only show the hoses and 4 way connector for the MAP sensor, and there is not enough detail to see where the hoses go... Help is much appreciated!
Ok, studying the internet I now know this: One set of the vacuum lines (3 in 1) goes to the evaporative control system, and one set of lines goes to the MAP sensor. I'm still not sure if there is a difference in the two connection points that each throttlebody has.. Has anybody ever looked at these?
Tbh, i'd try and take it to a dealer to sort. Sure, i'd cost but at least you would have a great bike at the end that was fully sorted.
Yeah, I would agree. But the trouble is, I want to know. And wanting to know has higher priority than just having it sorted.
I had to do the same for a Street Triple due to a balls up I made when removing the evaporative system. I tried the manual, talking to the dealer etc. to find the right ones to use. There was no way to be sure, luckily I had a spare Street at the time (One was for road and one was for track) and taking the other one apart to look was the only way I could find out... I seem to remember that a few on here have removed the evap system on their Speeds, so maybe they can tell you the routing or have photos of what they did.
Take a picture of it and see if someone on here will take a picture of their bike for you to compare it with.
Not sure how similar the 2017 is to the older 2011-2016, there you have a lot of manuals online and also the Haynes that you can get online.
Thanks for the reply's. I found the details by looking at 2nd hand throttle bodies in Ebay The MAP sensor should be hooked up to the 3 connectors away from the sync screws. The evap system goes into the 3 connectors close to the 3 set screws. i set it up that way, balanced the throtle bodies and got it all working. While I was at it I noticed that you could adjust the throttle bodies of both cilinder 1 and 3 without removing anything at all... Since all screws influence all throttle bodies, if you're lucky you might be able to do a perfect balance by adjusting those on the outside!
