I just wanted to say a quick word and thanks to everyone on this site. I haven’t been on here for very long, I have a shiny new Twin, and I live on the wrong side of the pond. That being said, everyone on here has been welcoming, fun, and interesting to say the least! I have been a long time member of some other groups involving things like Jeeps and VWs and let me tell you, the difference is overwhelming! Maybe it’s that we are a bit more mature or something, but the drama you run into on some forums is ridiculous! It has been a dream of mine to have a Triumph since I saw my first Bonnie as a kid, but this community has made it that much more enjoyable. Cheers, and thanks again!
Yes Andy, I did also wonder about the use of the word "mature" - per OK hasn't read the "Tiny cocked" thread, or many others which put doubt about the maturity of our auguste brothers and sisters
Knew I’d get some grief over the mature comment! I think the gents in the white coats bring us all here to get nursies meds!
If you ever plan to be on the Delmarva Peninsula (everything east of the Chesapeake Bay), let me know and we can ride together. There is a good time to be had in September for Delmarva Bike Week/Ocean City Bike Fest. At any given time, there are probably 50,000+ motorcycles and I think they see over 200,000 during the four days. I've gone for several years and there aren't any attitude problems. I have a friend on the police force in Ocean City and he said they have less problems during bike week than any of the other car events. Most of the riders are on Harleys, but I get questions about my rig and a thumbs-up at nearly every stoplight
I’ve been on a few forums in the past and it’s just that we don’t tolerate keyboard warriors. People with an axe to grind don’t last long in here as we just ignore them. Talking to yourself soon gets boring. Some has a question we answer, it then go back to taking the mickey. Usually within the same thread
Too true mate, few threads stay on the rails much beyond page one ... I think it's something to do with age and short attention span.
It’s been a bit since I’ve been anywhere in the UK, but I can see a visit in the future planned around the meet-up.
I’ve been your way before, it’s just been a bit. Haven’t had the pleasure of being to Wales yet, but feel like it will be familiar ground!
We really are a family. We definitely have a few odd one's that we keep in the loft and don't talk about And a few strange uncle types that you don't leave alone with the children. And the old one that smells of pish. Well actually, there's a few of them
I’ve heard the same thing while traveling round Ireland! A point I bring up as often as I can with one of my mates who’s a Dubliner.
That's correct mate. Welsh is the Anglisised version of the Middle High German word for foreigner. So when the Anglo-Saxons had taken over much of Middle England the inhabitants there were no longer the foreigners, just those around the borders, and the term stuck for those lot in what became known as Wales. Now there's boring for you boyo.
Pleeze! Leds be frienz! And ju can alweyz leave jur childrun wiz me! (I teach them how to sing: Doe, Ray, Me.... )
