Afternoon all. The Thunderbird 900 now has a stablemate, a 1993 Trident Sprint, as the wife doesn't enjoy pillion, (even with a new rear shock) on the T'bird, so instead of a new seat l bought another bike :grinning:.
We're hoping, (we're optimists) to tour again next year so I'm looking at luggage options for the Sprint.
I know the Givi wingrack can be fitted, but has anyone ever fitted the later Sprint Executive (which l should never have sold),Trophy panniers rails to an early Trident/sprint/trophy? I know the later subframe was drilled/tapped and have no issues doing this, just wondered if it had been done before and if the panniers sit correctly due to the differing footrest hangers etc.
    Cheers
    Mark

    Hi, Mark.
Personally, I'd stick with the Givi Wingrack setup. That will give you access to both Givi and Kappa boxes as many of them will fit both systems. Mine went on my '95 Trident shortly after I bought it some 25 years ago when it had it's first service. 3 x 36ltr boxes and a decent sized tank bag were enough for us for two week trips to Scotland and France (okay, some hand washing of socks and undies was required!) but you may need more space (or less?) so you will have that choice should you need it.
www.triumphparts.co.uk aka Sprint Manufacturing may be able to help with a fitting kit etc.

l've just bought a givi tubular frame kit off ebay, as used on the ST sprint, with the intention of making my own brackets. I'll keep the panniers in mind thanks, it depends how the frame works out, height wise. Without going into details l need to keep the top of the boxes below seat height, as per the trophy setup, hence the question re the rails. Thanks for the reply and advice.
